What is the colour of WATER?

Water ever colour it wants to be!

This is an interesting question and I have absolutely no qualification whatsoever to even try and answer it but here are a few of my thoughts just for the hell of it!

Water is clear but takes on the appearance of colours around it, so is it actually absorbing colour so we see the colour that we see or is it reflecting the colour? If is absorbing the colour then why or how quickly does it lose that when we look at it in a different light?

If it reflects the colour then how come we can see through it? Shouldn't it be opaque so the reflection thing works?

Water tastes different in different places so it must be absorbing something even when it appears crystal clear.

There - that is the sum total of my knowledge on this subject. My head hurts now so I think I will go and have a glass of water!
