In Greek Mythology there were plenty of Gods and Goddess that weren’t well known from beginning to end it starts to get really complicated with who had a relationship with whom and so on, but we’re going to try and give it a shot. In the very beginning there was Chaos, now who helped conceive the offspring is unknown, but Chaos was the parent to Tartarus, Gaia, Eros, Nyx, and Erebus.

Now here’s where it starts to get confusing. Gaia and Tartarus together had one child, Typhon. Gaia then went on to have three other children with whom is unknown, Uranus, Mountains, and Pontus. Gaia then conceived 12 children with her son, Uranus, the children are often called the Titans and Monsters but they actually do have names. Mnemosyne, The Cyclopes, Cronus, Rhea, Coeus, Phoebe, Hyperion, Hecatonchires, Iapetus, Oceanus, Tethys, and Echidna.

From there Cronus and Rhea, though brother and sister also had a relationship where children were a result, those children being of the popular Gods, Hestia, Hades, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, and Zeus. Also of the same generation as Cronus and Rhea, their brother and sister Coeus and Phoebe had only one child named Leto.

As we all well know Zeus was one that frequently visited various women whether it was sister, cousin, niece or so on and many many children were a result of these visits. There were some more noteworthy of the offspring though such as Persephone, daughter of Demeter and Zeus, Ares, the son of Hera and Zeus, Hercules who is the son of Zeus and Mnemosyne.

Zeus fathered well over twenty children in his life and most likely more than even the records will ever show. Luckily he was the father to some of the most important Gods and Goddess in Greek Mythology such as the Muses, Aphrodite, Apollo, Hermes and many many more. Now keep in mind this short version of the family tree is really only half the story, all these words can be a bit confusing and a simple diagram may be the way to figure it all out.
