I found this request intriguing as I do not know very many people out there who have a personal mission statement. I do have one for the way I live my life. My personal mission statement is the result of growing up the way that I did and not wanting to repeat some of the things I grew up dealing with.

My personal mission statement is 'Live Honestly.' I chose this a long time ago after becoming disillusioned with all the fake people around me. I grew up going to church with some of the most false people I have ever seen. They talked a great game and while they were with church people they played the game however outside of church their lives were worse than alot of the people I knew who didn't go to church. Needless to say, it turned me off to religion and God until I was much older.

Due to this background I decided that i would live as honestly as possible. This meant I would try to not lie or placate others just to make them feel better. I attempt to tell the truth about my life as much as possible. If I'm struggling with something, I let people know. I try to live my life as openly as I can. I have had many people ask me why I honestly answer questions like how are you and why I don't just give the expected answer. The simple reason is that I will be as honest as possible.

Now while this is my life mission statement, it doesn't mean that I do this perfectly all the time. i do fall into the trap myself and fail quite a bit. I am not deluded enough to think that I don't make these mistakes myself, however my goal is to try to live up to this statement I have made for myself.
