What should I do to finally kill this cough away?
70What brought on this cough?
There are a few things you need to think about first. What brought on this cough? Did you have a cold? Did you have a sinus infection? Is it Spring in your area and flowers and budding of the trees are happening? Is grass growing? Do you have allergies to these "green" plants?
If you had a cold and you have a lingering cough, then perhaps you had a sinus infection that went untreated. If you had a sinus infection and had a course of antibiotics and still have cough then the infection is still lingering. In both cases you have still have an infection whereby post nasel drip is causing the cough and the infection is still causing a problem. Usually a longer treatment for the sinus infection needs to occur before the cough clears.
If it is not a sinus infection, then it is an allergy post nasel drip that is creating the cough. If you have a sensitivity to pollen, molds, weeds, grasses, and other spring culprits or sensitivity to chemical smells (cleaning products) or even candle scents, then they will trigger nasel juices. These will cause post nasel drip which in turn causes the cough. Clearing this out with a saline nasel spray will nelp or if allergies are a big problem then a synthetic treatment will probably help more.
You may even have a asthma issue going on if this has been issue for awhile and it is not going away. Asthma can be triggered by allergic reactions as well. You can be any age for asthma to creep up and there is a reaction that is "coughing" is some asthmas.
In any case seeing your physician will help to resolve the problem. Something is going on and it is a sign that your body is out of balance and is not liking something. Instead of letting it linger you should be checked out and not let it progress into something more serious. Better safe than sorry.
