What the World Needs: Goodness, Freedom, and Humility
55What the world needs now is not a politician but a statesman, a man of unparalleled integrity. The world needs a man who knows that right is right, wrong is wrong, has character as solid as stone, and a heart full of compassion. In today's world we are taught that there is a time when right and wrong cannot be thought of as moral choices. In other words we are taught to make the practical choice, not necessarily the right one. How dangerous this is to our country. Without that sense of right or wrong, and with that sense of utilitarianism, we are paving the way for value to be determined by contributions and not inherancy. Life then becomes cheap and expendible; Freedom is not convenient for our politicians to respect; Rights get in the way of the expansion of power. That is the road our country is headed down.
"Just remember: Your soul is in your keeping alone. At the end of the day you cannot say, 'I was ordered to do thus' or that 'Virtue was not convenient at the time.' " The making of a better world through conscientious, right choices is the responsiblity of every man, woman, and child. We cannot expect good things to happen through inactivity or moral equivocation.
Bottom line: Right is right. Wrong is wrong. The only gray area is that which your mind is uncomfortable accepting as wrong. There can be no equivocation when deciding to do good. "Then at the end of the day you will be a good man, or not."

I agree that man's heart is duplicitious, but I also believe that great statemen and leaders have come in the past and will in the future. God has not turned a blind eye to the plight of the people who honor Him.
Alexuis I hope and pray you are right ! In the Interim I thank you for your service . And I look forward to other hubs from you feel free to drop In and read a few of mine as well ! I would like your opinions !
I decided to drop by and take a read which turned out to be an impressive read. We do need to follow what is right, but I wonder with black and white turning so gray if sometimes there really is a real right answer to some problems.
For example, as a woman I support pro-choice given that if I were in the cirumstances my experiences may alter my view (Rape, incest, etc.) but as someone looking at the issue from the outside I do not think i could consciousently ever have an abortion.
Hence, there is no right answer that I can discern in the issue, so how can we find a leader to make the 'right' choice?
Anyhow, I will have to wonder over to your other hubs now and take a read!
As Bakunin said, the easiest way to eliminate an ardent revolutionary is to give him power. We need antistatesmen.

This Is definitely a nice sentiment ,however mans heart Is duplicitious at best , so I am pretty certain that won,t happen ! We don, t need a statesman either we need a LEADER ! And unfortunately we live In a society where the candidate with biggest bankroll wins ! Priciples have been gone for a long time !
