We all know that having a child is very expensive in this day and age. There are plenty of necessities that are to be bought and time to be spent researching which is best for them. The child will spend a large amount of time in their crib more than anywhere else, so it is important when deciding the right crib for your child.

There are simple basics; you want to make sure that the crib is sturdy and that the rails are close enough from preventing the child’s head to go in between the bars. It is also a great idea to go shopping for cribs before you are due for birth. It can be difficult to go crib shopping in a store sometimes because most stores don’t keep them in stock, however, they can order them for you.

Furthermore, it is important not to place the crib near drapery or window blinds. These can be very hazardous to your child. For instance, a child can easily play with a chord and end up strangling themselves

Now that you have a basic idea of how your crib should be, you can now decide what you are exactly looking for. One good idea to look for is checking out the adjustable mattress of height in the crib. You can easily decide the height of the mattress by raising the mattress support or lowering it. The best time to lower the mattress is when your child begins to sit up. This option should be checked for sturdiness. It should be solid since you would not want your child to accidentally move the mattress out of line. You should also give the crib that you purchase a full inspection. Play with it! See how it works and operates. You don’t want to use cribs that are too complicated to use and you also don’t want a crib that your child can manipulate.

There are plenty of other things to check for when looking for a crib but, there are also plenty of things that you should be aware of before purchasing a crib. Be careful of using cribs that have bumpers and old cribs. Bumpers have been known to be a major SIDS risk to children, so it is best to avoid them at all costs. Also, older cribs will more than likely have more safety risks. They are very likely to fall apart, have lead paint, or even the bars could be too far apart. These are all potentially dangerous for your child.

Now that you know what to look for and what not to look for, you can begin your quest to find the right crib. Most cribs cost around the $100 and $400 mark or a bit higher. The fancier cribs will range from the upper hundreds to the lower thousands. No matter what the crib may cost, you now know what to look for in a crib. Apply what you’ve learned!
