October through December in Orlando promises plenty of sunshine and average temperatures ranging from 70 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit most days of the month. It’s an idyllic time of the year for an Orlando vacation, and a great time to enjoy the festivities at the theme parks, take in the holiday decorations around town, and enjoy a carefree vacation.

If you’re planning an Orlando vacation for the 2009 holiday and winter season, here are some of the things you’ll need for a comfortable and enjoyable trip:

1. Light rainwear. While you probably won’t experience the daily storms and rain showers that are common during the summer in Orlando, you will run into a couple of storms during the winter season. Take along some light rainwear, a poncho and a light jacket for those unexpected rain showers and storms.

2. Shorts and capris. You can still enjoy plenty of hot, sunny days during the winter 2009 season in Orlando, so plan on wearing lightweight, resort style clothing for the majority of the trip.

3. A cardigan or light jacket. The evenings and early morning hours can be fairly cool during the winter season in Orlando, so plan to bring at least a lightweight jacket, a sweater or a cardigan to get through those few cooler hours comfortably. You can easily layer these with tee shirts and other summer clothes for the rest of the day.

4. Water bottles. The peak sunshine hours can make for a hot day in Orlando, so pack a water bottle if you plan on being out and about for most of the day. Dehydration can slow you down and make your vacation less than comfortable, so plan to carry your own water bottle when you’re hitting the theme parks and other attractions.

5. Sunscreen. The non-stop sunshine in Orlando continues through the winter season, so you’ll need to layer on the sunscreen. Even on non-sunny days, it’s important to protect your skin from UV rays.

6. Comfortable walking shoes. When you’re planning on exploring the theme parks for several days of your Orlando vacation, or just want to spend a few hours shopping and relaxing around the city, you’ll need some comfortable walking shoes with proper cushioning. Expect to be standing and walking for long periods of time, especially at the theme parks over the holiday season.

7. Small towels. You can expect to sweat after a few hours in the sunshine – even during the winter months – so take along a few towels to keep you cool. You can easily pack these in a tote bag and look forward to a stress-free vacation.

8. Hat or visor. If you want to prevent sunburn and excessive sun damage, plan to wear a wide-brimmed hat or a visor when spending the day outdoors. These accessories will help you ward off the sunshine with ease.

The winter 2009 travel season in Orlando is expected to be busy, especially during the weeks leading up to the major holidays. Make sure you’re packing for the weather by including all of these items in your travel checklist and look forward to a fun and memorable Orlando getaway.
