Located in the southeastern corner of South Carolina, this 12 mile island offers a peaceful, relaxed setting to forget worries and watch the beautiful sunsets on the beach.
Hilton Head is a place for families. People of all ages enjoy daily activities such as dolphin tours, horseback riding, biking, tennis, surfing and parasailing. There are numerous places to take lessons in golf, go deep sea fishing, participate in a dinner cruise or learn how to crab.
Children enjoy daily cruises of their own as well as summer live children's shows in the warm summer months. Fireworks displays occasionally dot the map among the always ready ice cream shops and restaurants to please every palette.
Nature trails and bike paths throughout the island provide the perfect place to observe the natural habitats of the island. Sunning alligators and birds are common sites throughout the ponds and pools of the island. The island is biker friendly. It is impossible to visit the island and not find someone on the bike path enjoying a leisurely ride.
Public and private golf courses are located throughout Hilton Head Island. Tee times on courses used for tournaments, such as the annual PGA Heritage week, can be arranged for golfers of all skill levels.
Of course the granddaddy attraction is the beach. Beautifully maintained beaches are enjoyed daily by young and old. Whether the tide is in or out, there are numerous, fun activities on the sand.
The shopping experience is enjoyable with many unique shops and family run businesses in various places on the island. From larger outlet malls close to the island to individual shops here and there, there is something for everyone from upscale to touristy beach shops.
Once the day's activities are through, there is a wide variety of dining choices. There is about 200 restaurants on the island that service fast food, ethnic to upscale offerings. Romantic, sports bar, and oceanside dining experiences can provide the perfect atmosphere to your chosen evening meal.
There are a number of hotels on the island with great views. Some families choose to rent one of the many villas on the island for convenience, cost and that at home feeling.
