What to do When You Hate your Friend's Girlfriend
72
Alright, Let's face it. Sometimes our friends make stupid choices. Whether it be what pants and shirt they decided to blindly throw on that morning, To a fatal decision in hair dye. When they do these things, We chide them and get a cheap laugh. But, I think everyone knows that when the mistake they've made is.. Lets say their choice in partner... Things can get out of hand. I'll get to that in a minute.
One of my best friend's name is Katrina. I have known her for 6 years, And I feel closer to her then I do most everyone else. About two years ago, she started dating a girl Who I was not very fond of. Alot of things went down, and needless to say, I ended up on the verge of hating this girl.
All these things were running through my head. Mean things. She wasn't pretty enough, smart enough, what did they even have in common.. Now, I know alot of you out there may have or had a problem like this. And we all know that this subject is thin ice. Saying the wrong thing to your friend about their "sugar bunny" can ruin what you have with them.
So here's what I've learned, and will now share with you.
1. Do not judge a book by it's cover. This is simple enough. I mean, come on! Give them a shot. Get to know them for who they are! And if all else fails, Find out what makes them tick and get under there skin... That was a joke. (sort of).
2. Go hang out with them! Sometimes being around your boyfriend/girlfriends friends can be intimidating. Get them out into a less threatening environment. Take them bowling, Or go to a movie. Even try a book store. Sometimes they'll surprise you.
3. Mind your tongue. Even if all the other ideas don't work, and You two still bash head, you do not have the right to treat them badly or even have an attitude. Being rude to them, even if it's deserved, Will just make you look bad to your friend. And who wants that?
4. Last, and defiantly least.. Be honest. Talk to the girlfriend. Tell her how much you really care about your friend and you really want to try and be pleasant. Try striking an empathetic cord, Because I'm sure deep down She knows that it would be for the best too.
Well, That's really all that can be said. Sometimes, you have to deal with bitchy girlfriends. And other times, You just need to give them a chance to prove to you How great they are. When it boils down to it, If your friend sees something amazing in this girl, Then I'm sure you will to.

You know what's harder than keeping your mouth shut about your friend's partner? It's not saying I told you so when it blows up.
