What to do with unwanted Christmas gifts?
55Tis the season for gift giving, however not everyone likes what they get.
Now what to do with them? Ideas:
1:Regifting
2: selling the item
Regifting
Wikipedia defines it as: the act of taking a gift that has been received and giving it to somebody else, sometimes in the guise of a new gift.
When I hear the word regifting I think of a Fruit Cake that has been passed around from year to year. lol.
Regifting does not mean you are cheap, most people regift an item because they think it will be appreciated by someone else. As long as you follow proper etiquette, regifting is not considered rude or cheap. Statics say that two out of three people have regifted or are considering regifting.
Regifting the right way can be tricky and time consuming. There are several rules regarding regifting; rewrap the gift, do not use the gift before regifting, the most important thing is not to regift it to the original gift-giver.

Tip: If you stock pile gifts through out the year(s) make sure to label gifts as you get them (like who it was from), because you may forget and give it back to who ever gave it to you!
Selling a Gift
Thanks to eBay.com, selling unwanted items it easy. But eBay is not the only online auction site, it just has the most traffic. And, not every item listed will be sold. I have listed ten items and only two sold.
A new service can help you sell items valued over $50.00, https://www.auctionpal.com/, they take a commission from the total of ending price of the auction. The commission covers all eBay and Paypal fees. For more information go to auctionpal.com and read all the details about using them.
If you are thinking of selling unwanted items on an online auction website, be sure you know all the fee's involved. Some do not have Listing Fee's and only Final Value Fee's. You should take all into account when deciding to list an item.
Using a comparesion website could help (example:http://www.100auctionsites.com/general-auction-directory.htm).
TIP: Check out more than one comparesion website.
Unwanted Gift Cards
You can trade/sell a unwanted gift card at new website that have popped:
- cardavenue.com
- SwapAGift.com
- plasticjungle.com
- Giftcardsagain.com
- Giftcardbuyback.com
Is this a good idea? As long as you know the fee's involved, it can be.
Things to remember:
- Most of the sites that purchase gift cards generally pay between 60-80% of their face value. They then resell them for a profit, usually 80-90% of face value.
- Selling and trading fees can run from a flat $4 fee, to a percentage based fee, depending on the site you use.
- Most sites only charge the seller and not the buyer.
Donate to Charity
Charities can always use donations, especially during the holidays. Check out Oprah's website for organizations accepting donations, (http://www.oprah.com/presents/2004/oathome/organize/oathome_organize_free01.jhtml)
