Aside from what products you put on your skin, it is just as important as what you feed your skin that will slow down the aging process, keep a healthy youthful glow on it, and will truly be healthy from the inside out.
Many people out there will take good care of their skin based on whatever their daily regimen is, but then eat foods that are high in sugar, or greasy fast food, etc. and then wonder why they keep breaking out all of the time. You cannot do one without the other. To truly take care of your skin you have to know what you are putting on the outside and what you are feeding the inside.
Here is a list of nutrients that will keep your skin healthy and glowing and even possible places where you can find these nutrients:
Vitamin A (carotenoids)- Spinach, squash, leaf lettuce, papayas, potatoes, cantaloupe, mangoes, and carrots. This vitamin protects against sun damage.
Vitamin C -Grapefruits, oranges, bell peppers, and tomatoes. This vitamin can reduce photo-aging and skin cancer.
Vitamin D-Salmon, tuna, whole grain cereals, low fat milk, vegetable oil, and eggs. This helps boost immunity and aids with the healing process.
Zinc-Dried beans, legumes, sunflower seeds, nuts, and whole grain cereal. Zinc rapidly repairs wounds by offering cell growth.
Vitamin E-Eggs, vegetable oil, salmon, and tuna. This reduces the risk of skin cancer.
Selenium-Whole grain cereal. Reduces the risk of skin cancer.
Protein-Dried beans, legumes, low fat milk, eggs, tuna, and salmon. Protein provides the basic building blocks for collagen which holds the skin together and is the baseline of having a healthy foundation for our skin.
