What Is Rank
45The Gorilla General
I remember you
...................................................Greater then greatness
.......Larger then the Empire State Building
......................................Where your misguided-misrepresented brother
Was shot down
......................By tiny airplanes
That were much larger then your
.....................Tiny glass cage
...............................................Set somewhere in a zoo
........In a country called Germany
During a time called the nineteen seventies
.......When I first looked into your wonderful
.....................Wise eyes
......While you were licking up
...Your spent puke
..................For the umpteenth time
.............To entertain
The marveling spectators
.............Who ahhhhhhhhhhhed
......At your stage center
Acts of tongue and scrutinizing stare
.............Whose wonderful eyeballs
.....Circled the entire crowd
.............Of dazzled simpletons
....................And stopped
......For those long moments
..........To gaze at me
... Who wore a uniform
Of a supposedly great land
.......And I for the first time
Longed for rank of general
......And changed colors and flag
For those more truly in need

This is a poem that relates a almost true story of this event in Germany while I served there in the U.S. Army. Great truth: Part Metaphor
