What's Going On?

Well, congress is up to a lot these day, and most of it is not being reported on. I have been looking at some of the bills being introduced and voted upon in congress. Here is a little bit of what our congress has been up to.

House Votes To Nationalize Student Loans

Well house voted 253-171 for nationalizing student loans today. The vote, again was sad to be pretty much split between the parties. The rationalization for the vote claimed that this would save approximately 40 biition dollars in subsidies to the banks for making the loans 47 billions worth of loans to students.

This appears to have some liberal math in it. First, there will an estimated 20,000 people who will lose their jobs. Sallie Mae, the largest student loan provider will llayoff approximately 8500 people. Mark up another 20,000 unemployed to the government.

Also, the savings, doesn't appear to allocate for the cost of the government to do the loans themselves. Only good thing is that it may create a few government jobs to replace the once lost in the private sector.

Also, the bill appears to increase the maximum Pell grant by $1400 to $6900.

I guess since government is said to already control 90% of loans, this falls in line with BO's power grab, to control more lending yet. Not only control who gets loans such as mortgages and business loans, the government will control who gets loans to further their education. And possible to what colleges they will go to.

HR 45 Gun Control Bill

Not many have heard about this bill introduce in January, and is now starting to get some attention in Washington. This is known as Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009.

What it basically entails is the following:

In order to own a pistol or a rifle with a clip, one must

  • The gun must be registered
  • You must be fingerprinted
  • You must provide a current Driver's License
  • You must provide your Social Security number
  • You may have to under go a physical & mental evaluation any time of their choosing choosing
  • Any change of ownership must be report for a cost of $25. Failure to report this will provoke your right to own firearms, and will result in a fine and possible prison time of up to a year.
  • There is a child-access provision. The gun(s) must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18.
  • The government has the right to inspect your premises to see that you are storing your gun safely away from children. The fine is punishable for up to five years in prison.

This can be verified at Snopes.com and/or by googling HR 45.

List Of Power Grap Items By The Government

  1. Mortgage and Loans - Government now backs and controls an estimated 90% of mortgages and loans. Can't get a loan, ask your congressman!
  2. Government controls GM and part of Chrysler,
  3. Government is in process of taking over student loans,
  4. Government is in process of taking over the healthcare industy.
  5. Government is initiating legislature to control Wall Street.
  6. Government is initiating cap and trade legislature which will place them in position to control a large portion of manufacturing.
  7. Government has presented bills to control our guns.

Are you mad yet? I am sizzling!

And One Good Note! Acorn May Have Met Its Doom

One of the good things coming out of the politics world, is that Acorn may have meet it;s match. All it took was a little undercover expore.

It is just funny to see how the libs are throwing Acorn under the bus as fast as they can. Reminds, of how the libs will do and say what ever the status quo is for the day. After 9/11 they could not sign the bills fast enough to make themselves look good. Now the cannot sign the bills fast enough to bury Acorn.

As of last knowledge, both the house and the senate has passed legislature to strip Acorn of all governmental funding. Let's see what BO does with the bill. Rumor is that the Acorn legislature was tied in with the bill to nationalize the student loans. I have not been able to confirm this yet.

Thanks for being on top of what else is going on on Capitol Hill besides the infamous healthcare bill.

I'm not sizzling like you. But interested in why these are not being reported! Thanks for the hub, sir. MM

MM, haven't you figured it out yet. The media is on BO and the libs side. They want these things to go on unnoticed. Besides the heath care fiasco is supposed to be a distraction for so the other things can be kept under the radar.

Keep on hubbing!

They are passing so many crazy things, without transparency. I too wrote about a few in Rumors or Reality, and the bad part is that we are so concerned about the big issues, that the little ones can slip through the cracks. Thanks for the Hub.

Very good Hub, Ed. The gun law is the one that bothers me the most - well, they all do, of course. This Congress and this president want to get inside your head and your house. I don't think we red-necks in the south will want them poking around in our house to find how many guns we have not registered. State's have different gun law. It is against the Second Amendment for the Feds to pass a law pertaining to guns. That has been left to the states as provided for in the 9th and 10th Amendments. When did we specifically give them permission to pass laws limiting our right to hold guns? I think it would take a constitutional amendment for this bill to hold up. Great Blog, Ed.

Dear eovery,

Great Hub. Passing legislation quickly, without review, oversight or mention is part of Obama's game plan. The damage will be done in a blink of an eye.

As the saying goes "no ones life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session"!!

Great facts.

Thanks for all of you commenting,

Jiberish and breakfastpop. It is crazy. I understand that they get a copy of a bill at 2:00 am that they have to vote on at 9:00 am in the morning. This is freaking ridiculous.

Don I hope you are right, but with the Supreme Court changing, who knows?

Dan, that appears to be an adequate statement.

Keep on Hubbing!
