The elephant when asked about his affair was quoted as " I was only trying to take a piss.... I'm not gay...You ever seen a gay republican? Well I haven't!"

MIDDLE AMERICA

I feel as if the middle class has become the area where the elephant and the donkey meet in the picture. The middle class really isn't near the middle either now is it? Funny how we call it the middle. Is it because it makes us feel better about where we really are in the spectrum? I know far to many people who are called middle class, but who barely make it to Friday each week with enough green to stay out of the red. It seems the middle class is so far from the middle that neither the right or the left can hear us. Gee, I guess I can't complain though.... its not like I'm poor. If I were poor I'd be homeless and living under an overpass on I-75.

The weird thing about it is most of the middle class is only a few short weeks away from this reality.

POOF!On your way to your desk on Friday morning your supervisor starts walking and talking with you. Same daily BS. But at the end as you reach your desk, sit down and sip your coffee he says to you, "Thanks for busting your butt for us but we gotta let you go..."You lost your job because the company you worked for 20 years at is sending your job down to Mexico or China. Why not? Cheap wages, less competition, and better yet... more tax breaks. Hurray for capitalism!

To the CEO's of major players in the global economy, a worker is just a set of hands and feet to them. (Hmmm..... that's weird. I just felt a great disturbance in the force.) What they don't care to observe is the fact that their "hands and feet" have families that depend on a steady income to provide for them. They show up to work on time, and they stay late when the company is short on people. Yes sir, no sir. As its our responsability to show up and follow the rules at work it should be the responsibility of the heads of the company to keep it running safe and sound. But no they dont do that now do they? Enron anybody? The heads got paid while many people lost everything.

It was a Republican who ended slavery... but somewhere over time the idea of slavery was lost in translation. Back then it was cheap labor. All they had to do was keep the slaves fed and and they could work. And what if they got sick? Well we know what happened then now don't we. That sure could be said of the current system we have now doesn't it? Oh you got sick for a few days and couldn't see a doctor because the place you work at doesn't offer health insurance and you didn't get a doctors note.... sorry but you're fired. Well now without a job you can't pay for your house and it goes into foreclosure. Bills add up and soon the phone, gas and lights are off and you're living under that overpass on I-75. While jobs here in America keep heading overseas and south of the boarder, it means more people here in the job market which in turn means they can pay the someone whos willing to take the least. And we'll all take what we can get because we gotta eat too!

Capitalism has created a new class. The rich call it the middle class. But in all honestly is more or less just slavery. The only reason you get paid for working is because the government says that they have to pay. If you make minimum wage, the company is saying to you... "We'd pay you less but we can't." Doesn't less money in the market hurt the companies in the long run. If the workers at GM, Ford, and Chrysler cant make enough in wages to afford the product that they build, then theres something very wrong about that. Thats like working at Burger King and can't afford the Whopper value meal.

True. I like your Official Seal. Yes, the rich get richer and the poor get children. Write more.
