What's Up With That?? Pondering Life's Greatest Mysteries
68
I Was Just Wondering....
I don't know about you, but I often find my self daydreaming, spacing out, or just randomly thinking about whatever happens to pop into my brain.
This wandering brain of mine seems to allow ample time to ponder some of life’s greatest mysteries.
Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating about the "greatest" and "mysteries" part.
But anyway, here are some extremely random questions for your consideration.
Why is it that…
In the parking lot….even if you park at the very back, with no cars around, invariably when you return to your car, somebody is parked right next to you?
Or, when getting in or out of your car, the driver of the vehicle parked right next to you is also entering or exiting, (so you have to wait until they close their door) and you are
the only two people doing so in the whole lot ? I actually call that 'The Rule of the Parking Lot.'
At the grocery store… there is always somebody standing exactly in front of the one thing you want on the shelf.
And when you go to check-out, your line is the slowest by far …. So you switch to a lane that's moving much faster, but then suddenly, your old line starts moving and your new line is going nowhere!
Instead of replacing the roll of toilet paper, how come the last person that used the bathroom before you leaves about one-half square on the roll, making it look like there is some left, but not anywhere near enough to do you any good. Of course, you don’t realize that until it’s too late, and then you are sitting there on the toilet calling out for help.i
And why is it that....
In school, a grade of “A”,”B”, “C”, or “D” doesn’t stand for a word, but “F” stands for “Fail”?
If your doggie pees on the floor, you will discover this
by stepping in the puddle, in the dark, while barefoot. Ewww...
And why is it that the settings on a desk fan are off, followed by high,
med, and low? Shouldn’t it be off, then low, medium, and high? I don't get that.
Ever noticed that the less hair a man grows on his head, the more he gets on
his back?? Perhaps it slides down.
What’s up with the one shoe, just one, on the side of the road? Where is the other shoe? How did someone lose their shoe while traveling down the highway? It's weird.
Some of the most common put-downs for a man are actually
dissing his mother? (Bastard, son of a
bitch, among others.) That's just not right.
How come giving yourself a foot massage doesn’t feel anywhere near as good as when someone else does it?
When you breathe into your hands to check if you have bad breath, are you really smelling your breath, or just your hands?
Why is it that your grandmother was so much cooler than your mother? Was grandma the un-cool one when she was only a mom? Is there some kind of secret trade-off that happens?
Can you tell sour cream has gone bad by smelling it?
Remember that 70's show "Quincy" ? What was that guy's last name?
Why is it that the funnier a story seems, the dumber it becomes when you try to re-tell it?
How come your cat's favorite guest is the one person who doesn't like cats?
Why do we open our mouths when we put on mascara?

Talking about mothers - yes, the age old thing. Fighting words.
I was thinking about something the other day, too. I live in the city so it is walk walk walk everywhere - and we have had a a baby explosion and the streets are filled with strollers - but why...seriously...why are strollers built facing out so baby cannot see mom and even more important - mom cannot see if baby is turning blue, is falling out of the stroller - she cannot communicate with her baby and check on the well being. All the dust, grit and dirt hits baby in the face - mom has no idea what is going on. So baby can see the world? Baby can see the world as it passes by and look at mom and hear mom and bond with mom. Whose design idea was this?
Love your list - and it is all true. I do the supermarket dance every time I go!
Dear, Quincy was his last name, Dr. Quincy. His first name was never revealed although in one episode he had a business card with R. Quincy on it. Does that help ya? hehe
Now as for the many other mysteries you have posted, they are all too common and we share many of them. Funny hub. thanks
None of those things have ever occurred to me nor have I asked them....right!
Good hub, keep me smiling.
Thanks for your input, hub homeys, always good to get the feedback.
ralwus, thanks for the scoop on Dr NoFirstName Quincy.
Okay, were you reading my mind here? I love this article, you put it into words exactly as I have thought it before. Thanks for the refreshing topic.
LOL, life is full of such mysteries...people like Murphy (of Murphy's Law fame) got quite a kick out of them! :P
That was too funny!! The things we take for granted the most, are the things that turn out to be the greatest, or funniest, mysteries in life. Loved the mascara comment as well as your visuals. Congrats on a well-written blog!!
thanks to you, deer , Feline, and kcichocki, hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it!
Why is it that it's easier to think up really creative stuff while your are in your car, but when you try to think of cool stuff when you have paper or a computer to write you can't think of anything? Nice hub. Keep it up.
oh, thats a good one, Blake, and so true!
thanks
when i saw the monkey scratching his head i started to laugh so hard!!!!! then when i saw the grandmother picture man i got so excited i could not breath ,lughing so hard i was gasping for air, my eyes at first were closed shut wattery from laughing so hard they they opened wide i felt i was ready to explode the picture of the girl putting on mascara was the climax i could not stand it any more i was totally exasuted , i could not move for a few seconds i was totally spent LOL tomdhum
I enjoyed your post. I am sure there are some perfectly reasonable answers for all those questions ... they are more fun left unanswered though.
well, tomdhum, I'm thrilled that you had such fun reading this hub
Mr Happy, I agree its better to just leave some mysteries unexamined...
man, you ARE astute Elizabeth - I really laughed. Thanks.
thanks, mega1, glad that you enjoyed it!
Enjoyable read - Public toilets:- And what about knowing there is a tissue in your handbag, but it's 4 feet away hanging on the toilet door.
Jewels, that happens to you too, huh? Thanks for your input and for checking out my hub!!
Pondering puns of probability, what a sport and always funny...Imagine that to have a humor is the one thing that is absolutely good for you...
Thanks that was refreshing...
thanks Ioua.
I find that my sense of humor has helped me tremendously in my life...
Based on this hub, you could easily take over for Andy Rooney on 60 Minutes when he finally retires. You've got the right mindset, for sure!
The item (in your hub) that catches my attention most strongly involves grades. When I was in first and second grade (1949, 1950) in Montana, we actually had an "E" grade but not for every subject and not even for every student. We were told it was "E for effort" when--I'm paraphrasing--we were just too stupid for words but obviously trying like crazy.
Some of us did get together and form a juvenile committee to discover the meanings of the other letters. If memory serves, our final "discoveries" were:
"C" = Common (the most common grade for most of the class).
"B" = Better (self explanatory).
"A" = Arrogant (because nobody liked the kids that got those).
Thats a great story about the meaning of your grades,
thanks Ghost32!
LOL! Great hub, so funny and so true! What is up with that stuff?! I love your style, another great hub.
Thanks, wrenfrost, good to know I'm not the only one who wonders about life's great mysteries!
Another funny one. I especially like the man's hair thing. And I'm as intrigued about the one shoe on the side of the road thing. Very good hub. Another up vote, and many more to come.
thanks againg, fastfreta, your words are encouraging
Very good hub. Where did you get the cute monkey image? Made me to smile.
And Ghost32 you have interesting explanation for the Grades :)
I'm glad that this hub made you smile, probyte2u! I don't remember where I got the pic, I do alot of searches for free images..one that I like to use is freedigitalphotos.net.
thanks for your comments!

Good questions ... Do please share the answers too, as and when you are able to fathom any. :)
