First, The Real McSame - What's A Little InCoherency?

There Is A Man Behind King George

Secrets

Who Does Dick Cheney Think He Is??

Dick Cheney, probably the most dangerous Vice President in America's history. Do you think he'll ever be charged with war crimes? Treason? I'm wondering and I have many questions.

From the Australian news: "A GROUP filed suit in a Washington court seeking to ensure that the records of secretive US Vice President Dick Cheney are retained for public examination after he leaves the White House in January.

The historians and activists for open government worry that Cheney, regarded by some as the most powerful vice president in US history and behind many of the controversial policies of the administration of President George W. Bush, will seek to destroy records from his office when he steps down.

"What we are asking the court to do is basically to put in place a preservation order that will require the vice president to preserve all of his records, while the court has time to sort out this issue,'' said Anne Weismann of the group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW).

Another CREW representative, Melanie Sloan, said the records were valuable for future generations to study and understand the events and policies of the Bush administration since 2001.

She said that Cheney has refused to open his documents to the US national archives, claiming privacy protections and that he is not part of the executive branch of government and so not covered by the Presidential Records Act, which requires executive branch records to be protected and stored.

"The PRA was enacted to make it clear that the presidential records are not his personal papers but papers belonging to the people,'' Sloan said.

"The vice presidential papers can't be treated any differently.''

Since becoming vice president Cheney has fiercely defended his office from attempts to force it to make public documents and other records related to key political and policy issues, including the Iraq war and energy policy.

The PRA was created by Congress in 1978 in the wake of the Watergate scandal which brought down president Richard Nixon, the investigation of which turned in part on destroyed documents and a suspicious 18 minute gap in a White House tape recording of a key presidential conversation in the case.

CREW and others taking part in the suit Monday want a judge to place protections on documents from Cheney's office until Congress can clarify that the PRA covers the vice president's office."

Dick Cheney - Exempt From Truth?

There are numerous reports and articles over the past 8 years that discuss a secret meeting between Cheney and top oil executives in 2001. Among those reports is one by Dana Milbank and Justin Blum, of the Washington Post.

Other information regarding secrecy and lies about 9/11 and the actions of the Bush Administration can be found here. Draw your own conclusions.

I just have questions.

  • Why does Dick Cheney decide he's part of the Executive Brand and then not, at will?
  • What is he hiding?
  • What was said during his secret meetings with the Oil Executives in 2001?
  • What is the Project for New American Century that controls the Bush Administration?
  • Was 9/11 allowed by Cheney's unprecedented war games all scheduled on 9/11 that caused all of our national defense procedures to "break down" at the same time?
  • Are we being told the truth?

Write your congressman and make sure the Vice President's records are not destroyed when he leaves office. Not that I believe he hasn't shredded and re-shredded any notes already, but let's at least go through the motions.

I'm not spouting conspiracy paranoia...I'm just wondering.

Looking at the past disastrous 8 years, I am wondering will people truly elect the party that did so little good and potentially were responsible for so much harm? Can we afford to take that chance with snoozing McCain, and lying Palin with a foggy line between her radical views of blending Church and State?

"If we forget our past, we won't remember our future, because we won't have one." - Flannery O'Connor

Cheney's own words of "so?" when asked if he cared about what Americans think of the Iraq war echo in my mind.

We cannot afford to make an uniformed choice for President. We should use our best judgement. Do we and can we afford a McCain Presidency who makes so many mistakes when speaking; who does not seem to be telling the truth a majority of the time and whose views so closely align with Bush/Cheney?

Is McCain snoozing, mentally?

I'm not sure we can even recover completely from the Bush/Cheney lies, war, and economic disaster. We surely won't if we end up with more of the same.

"Wisdom means not making the same mistakes over and over again." - Jessica Tandy

Be wise, America.

OMG! IT gets worse and worse. We have met the enemy and he is US.

Okay I am on the bandwagon today, marisue.  Do you remember how Republicans made Kerry supporters and anti-war activists feel anti-American after 9-11?  Now the shit is hitting their fan and they expect us to bail them out even while we cover their trillion dollar war?

Taxpayers just say NO!

Oh yes.  and there is so much evidence of things not right; lots of questions; I have not wanted to go there...hate to think we have been that duped; I have tons of patriotism for my country, but we need the truth.  I think evil walks among our leaders in the White House and Congress.   We must become informed, not complacent.  Ever onward...

=))  I remember...

"Do you remember how Republicans made Kerry supporters and anti-war activists feel anti-American after 9-11?" Kerry supporters and anti war activists did a good job at making this themselves look like asses 95% of the media was on there side. Republicans arent to blame for that.

I always enjoy your hubs Marisue dont always agree and it doesnt make you unpatriotic to question thats what being American is about. You always have to look at both sides of the equation. Thanks again for giving me somthing to ponder

"Taxpayers just say NO!" That's the 2nd time today I read this in a comment from you storytellerus. What have you got in mind exactly? Whatever it is I'm really looking forward to finding out. Great hub Marisue. It's going to be great when we get to see those books isn't it? Maybe we will even see some justice in this world!

I have never understood why Nancy Pelosi took impeachment off the table. Did she make some kind of sordid deal? It will take years to unravel the web of lies and deceit of this Dynamic Duo. Our forefathers must be rolling over in their graves.

As an aside, check out how the Bush Justice Dept. is spending our money going after the "real criminals".

This is a hub of beauty! The thing I'm most proud of in all of this is that even if Cheney somehow weasels his way out of this suit, the American people are shown the power of democracy. It's as plain as the nose on our faces that when people come together united with one cause in mind, they are able to effect positive change. Great hub marisuewrites!

Hi garmentmerchant....always room for another's opinion around my hubs; I'm okay with disagreement, that's what keeps us thinking. I agree, Kerry was an easy target; never got what i wanted out of his candidacy; thought his wife was a snot actually; but I sure didn't want Bush then and even less now. I wonder if charges of war crimes and even treason will ever come to the surface for Bush and Cheney? What a disgrace for our country. We were asleep at the wheel.

Hi CJ!! =)))) you know I think those books will shock us all, I'm thinking they are most likely worse than we can imagine. Even if they are, we need to get to the bottom of it...as embarassing for the US as it may be. We have to clean house to get back the respect we need in the world and domestically. No more room under the US's rug!

Good to see you.

Hi Susan!! You know I am very disappointed in Pelosi...she had a huge opportunity to take important steps to right some Congression wrongs, some Bush wrongs; and she vetoed even the investigation. I think we can only assume she made a deal. Otherwise, why take it "off the table?"

I had high hopes she would be decisive and tough. I like some of what she says; but the Democrats have not been able to get much done the last 18 mo, she could have been tougher. The think is, WHY make a deal to not investigate Bush/Cheney for impeachment? Clinton can lie about sex and get impeached and she won't even begin one over Treason, war crimes, lies for oil and personal purposes for war?? It does NOT make sense.

thanks for adding that great link!!

Hi talented_ink!! You are right!! We can never think we don't count.  We haven't tried to unite in the past many years; we've all been divided - had high hopes things would be ok; many people were afraid to criticize the Pres due to the war but it's gone too far now.  We can make a difference and thanks for pointing that out!

The last 8 years have raised many questions that need answering - I sure hope people will write a few lines to their congressman using the link in my hub -- it's easy and vital to our freedom!

Dick Cheney is a piece of work.  He's of the "Rovians" (as in Karl Rove).  It's a disgrace what the Rovians have done to great people such as Al Gore, John Kerry, etc.

All we poor dumb people who disagree with what's going is ONE VOTE, that's just not enough anymore when one considers the skull-duggery that goes on.

I could be wrong, but, didn't George W. Bush graduate from a university with a degree in economics?  If that's true, he must have been near the bottom of his class as was John McCain.

Have you viewed the Utube video/audio of McCain "when i'm 84"?  Here's the URL:

Just don't go hunting with Cheney or Palin unless you walk behind either of them.

mariesue, you are right!  we all need to write our congressmen/women -- everyone from a local to state to US representative AND senator.  when my youngest son was in the Navy he called me one afternoon, telling (not asking, telling) me not to ask any questions ... but, could I wire $200 to his ex-wife's checking account.

I said I would, I did, and I told that boy I knew what time he was off-duty, I'd be calling the next day at that time and expecting answersl.

The day before, he was escorted home at gunpoint by shore patrol under direct order of his Ex-O.  Turns out, his Ex-O had this little thing going with the ex-wives who didn't think they were receiving enough money each month.  He asked them to call him collect, they did.

My younger son served on a 9-month Med-Run on a Fast Attack, and, because of his Ex-O's shenanigans and nincompoopery, the son was down to $50 a month to live when he returned Norfok.

Enter the Ulster Mom and former Navy wife ... no officer is allowed to stick his nose into civil affiairs of any enlisted man or sub-officer.

Point to this?   Aside from any of this being against Navy Regs, this Ulster mother contacted every politician in the book to get the investigation on.  (Gotta find someone who sits on a Military Steering Committee -- politicians work for us, they are our watch dogs, make them work for it!)

After the investigation, the Ex-O was defrocked from Commander to Lt. Commander and assigned 5 years shore duty.

My son got a 3-year early out, honorable discharge, and piped off the boat --piping-off is a privilege for officers only, he wasn't one.

My son was not special, 17 other crew members were under the same pain with this former Ex-O, Commander Ehlers .. they also got early-out, honorable discharge, they were each piped off as well.

In the United States of America, it is the people who are the Sovereign, those in office are our employees.  If you screw up on the job big, what happens to you?  Time to wake up, eh?
