What's With Drugs Anyhow?

Drug Addictions

Well I am truly sorry for anyone who uses drugs. It is apparently a terrible affliction to be suffering from. The things that addicts will do for drugs is just unreal. Mothers will endanger the life of their unborn child, mothers and fathers will sell their children's bodies for the stuff, people will steal, beg, kill, etc.. the list can go on and on.

Now I have never been an addict to anything but a cigarette, and I know how grumpy I can be if I don't get my nicotine fix. But come on now, I know that if it was a habit that was going to cause me to lose my morals I would certainly not even entertain the idea of keeping the habit. How do people get addicted to illegal drugs? Yes I have heard the stories, I know how it happens unsuspectingly, " I just didn't think that I would get hooked!", or "It was in a bad time in my life.". I know you were depressed, you were abused as a child, you have all of these personal issues and drugs were an escape. Whatever......

Here are the facts. We all know that drugs are something that should not even be tried, not even once. We have all been taught this since kindergarten. We all know that drugs are addicting. So why do people still choose to ruin the lives of the people around them? Aside from the fact of being weak individuals, these people are also selfish individuals, caring only for their own wants. I have know individuals in my life that had chose this path. Some related, some not. The smart ones chose to get out before they hurt their family and friends any further. And some still chose to selfishly remain on this destructive road to nowhere.

There is no excuse for this behavior out of anyone. Thousands of people have proved that this is a habit that can be kicked not matter what your drug of choice may be. We even have a great welfare system in the United States that will help you financially while you are getting off of drugs. (Thank you taxpayers!) As a matter of fact you have a better chance of getting on the system if you are a user. They will pay for your rehab also. There is help out there for anyone who wants to quit. So what's your excuse for not quitting?

WOW!! Its sounds like you've really been hurt by a dug addict in your life. I myself do understand the "unreal" things that an addict will do for that high. Being a recovering addict as well as a parent, I, at my lowest, would never hurt my children for anything in the world much less a high. I do understand the emotional roller coaster that an addicts family and friends go through and feel terrible about what I put my family through. You're right... there is no excuse for not quiting, however, one of the most inportant parts of recovery is support and understanding. If theres no support and understanding from family and friends then theres almost no chance of "kicking the habbit". Addiction hurts everyone.
