What's the difference between religion and Christianity
64Christianity is a religion of peace.
I find this question a bit odd. Christianity is a religion; it is one of the major religions on Earth, but only one. It does not stand alone away from the other major religions. It is a belief to be cherished by its followers and respected by all others. The same can be said of all the religions of the world.
What makes Christianity different than a lot of religions, but not all, was that Jesus’ message was one to total non-violence. Despite what some people believe he never would preach about smiting the wicked. That is something I could never understand about some people that claim to be devout Christians. If you understand what Christ was saying, how can you call for war against another group in his name? How can you murder doctors or bomb clinics in his name? How can you demand businesses shut down for not following what you perceive as good Christian practices?
History is full of this type of misguided following of a Prince of Peace. That title for Jesus isn’t just words; that’s what he was inside and out. Yet through history witch hunts burned people at the stake in his name. The Klu Klux Klan did unspeakable things in his name. People were condemned for falling in love with the wrong person. Years ago it was a different religion. One would be horrified if a Catholic wanted to marry a Protestant, or worse a Jewish person. We got over that. Then it was a sin if a person wanted to marry outside of their race. If a European/American chose to marry an African/American there would be great turmoil. Happily we are now getting over that. Now everyone is in a tizzy about same sex marriage. Guess what, in time we’ll get over that also.
Jesus wouldn’t fight over any of those things. He knows his father has final judgment. God doesn’t need our help to smite the wicked. He is perfectly capable of punishing the evil doers in the world. If gay marriage is against God then God will see that they pay for it. If prostitution is against God; God will take care of that also. We don’t need witch hunts and tactics that limit the rights of our citizens. We need laws to protect our people from evil but the rule of law must be kept separate from the dictates of any religion.

I have to agree with you on what you have written and this is why I have started to steer clear of the religious forums, there are other Christians constantly arguing and I always stop myself and ask WWJD. I step out and walk away.:)
Pete,
For two thousand years the world had no knowledge that there even was a Jesus, and for the last two thousand years, Jesus is synonymous with God. In those four thousand years the people of the world have remained the same. The evil outshines the good.
Nothing changed in AD that wasn't prevalent in BC.
Nothing changed after Mohammad or any of the Protestant Religions. It is not their fault, they are just human. You don't blame a lion for killing his prey, the lion is doing what it needs to do to survive.
One Religion, One God and One worship.
Who was it that said: "I come not to bring peace but the sword"?
Christianity has suffered more than other religions from one great weakness: It had to prove itself to be right.
This should be clear when you learn something about early Christianity, growing out of societies that believed that the way to prove your god was the strongest was when you won the war (very Roman way of thinking).
However, once in almost total power Christianity, especially in the Western world, never relinquished this attitude. Unfortunately this seems to have given rise for the next religion to adopt the same attitude (but that's for another article).
God job in putting forward such intricate matters in an open and honest way.
nice article lot of good info

Thanks for answering the request. It was for this very reason I posed the question. Too many people do not see a difference. Happy "hubbing".
