What's the difference between Religion and Christianity?

I'll try and see if I can keep this short, lol. "Religion" for Religion's sake, it just a bunch of rituals that you have to go through or you're going to hell (or whatever bad thing that happens to you in a different religion).

Christianity is so much more than that. I believe that it was set up as a "religion" by God because that's all people could really understand at the time. Chrisitianity ia about a personal profound relationship with God. If you remove all the rituals, if you remove all things people tell you you "have" to do to go to Heaven, there is still an unbreakable bond between you and God.

Whereas "just" Religion, if you remove everything from the picture, you are left with nothing.

Christianity is classified as a Religion because one worships a deity. And with TRUE Christianity, that's the only thing that makes it a religion.

:) Hope this helps

Interesting idea. I guess I can't think of another religion that talks about a relationship between the people and the diety.

:) Actually there are several, which I'm pretty sure you're aware of. My point is it doesn't have to be Religion to be Christianity and vise versa. (or you know, you could substitute the name Christianity for another name) I used Christianity as the basis since that's what everyone seemed to be commenting about. Figured it would probably apply more in this situation. :)
