When You're the Victim of A Personal Attack

Everybody makes mistakes. Sooner or later, you will, too.

Perhaps instead, you'll be blamed for something you didn't do. That happens, too.

What's important to think about is not the unfairness of your situation, but what you can do about it. There are a number of things.

However tempted you may be to deny blame, accept your responsibility. Do not make excuses.

Acknowledge what you did and who you may have hurt. Apologize for it--sincerely, if at all possible.

Promise to make things right--but only if you can truthfully and confidently give such assurances.

If you can learn the art of graceful apology, you'll be ahead of the game
