We are taught from a young age that what you say and do has consequences. You get punished for lying and even sometimes for telling the truth; if the truth is not what the receiver wants to hear. You lose friendships,relationships and learn to associate communication with rejection and judgement. So some people find it hard to express themselves. Why? Because of the consequences that comes with the expression. Maybe an "I love you" comes with the consequences of being emotional, open; which can lead to getting hurt. So some people don't feel comfortable saying it or showing their emotions.

Sometimes it can lead to being taken advantage of or appearing needy. There are many reasons why people can not or do not express their love. There are others who are very free in expressing their love but acting out their love is another thing. Does not make them less sincere?

It's very hard to say. There are people who might love but fear showing it might cause them to lose out on better things in life and trap them to a life of commitment or boredom. Some are just not ready for the actions that love entitles and want to play the field until they are all played out. There are many reasons why some people prefer to express love while other choose to act out on it. The best thing is to find someone who is willing to do both and that includes yourself.

It might not be the same definition for everyone. People show love in different ways and how it moves them.
