With so many sites allowing us to express what were doing and give the world updates about our sites, businesses or personal life it sometimes can be hard to figure out which is the right tool to publish your content on.  While there are more sites than I'd possible want to list some of the primary ones I use are HubPages, Squidoo, my blog and Twitter.

Twitter distinguishes itself from the others in that it's usually clear what makes for a good Tweet.  However, the decision on whether to blog or create a Hub (or a Lens) is not always so simple.

To Duplicate or not to Duplicate

The big question is whether or not it's acceptable to duplicate your content.  Should I just cut and paste this into my blog.  Or can I create a blog entry that basically points to this page?  My personal feeling is that in general duplicating content is a bad idea.  I'm not sure if any of the sites programatically check this but regardless I don't like it.  What I recommend is that you cross reference your blog, hubs and lenses with related but distinct content.

For example on my websites blog I may announce a new feature and how to use it.  However, I may also create a hub that talks about the general problem the feature is solving and review other websites approaches to the problem (while linking back to the blog of course).

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on this topic.
