When God Melts Down Saints
55What God Wants His Saints To Do
Do you know what God wants His saints to do? He wants them to be obedient to His will. What is the will of God? Well, a testament is a will. After someone dies, the executor has the responsibility of providing the heirs with the last will and testament of the deceased individual. Christ, the Anointed One of Israel, has made His last will and testament available to the heirs of salvation. The Bible contains sixty six books; and these have been divided into chapter and verses for convenience.
Modern technology has advanced the cause of God. There are CDs with individuals - like Alexander Scourby - reading the Bible. But the Bible Experience CDs provides a dramatic reading, some of the reading interspersed with songs. Both Alexander Scourby and the Bible Experience team aim to make the Scriptures more accessible and enjoyable. An individual can listen to the Bible anywhere - while riding in a car, at work or at home. God wants His people to perform His will. How can they achieve such a goal?
An Awareness of Time
Saints of God need to be aware of time. Fifty or one hundred years ago, a meteor shower happened and few people knew about it unless they witnessed it or heard the news later. Today, scientists can predict the day and time when it will happen and what to expect. Consider the moral decay of society- specifically the crime frequency and variations.
A recent news report revealed that a boy stole the family car and led the Police on a high speed chase because he did not want to go to church! Worse still are those individuals who have a form of godliness but do not harness the power of God in their lives. War was something confined to the history books or reserved for story time with parents. The War in the Gulf with scud missiles, was televised; and it had a captive audience! Though man can count the wars of the twentieth century, he has not devised a scale to measure the pain and suffering of the soldiers or their families and friends. Signs of the time are everywhere.
Awareness of the Harvest
Lanny Wolfe wrote a song that speaks of a need that was evident when Jesus walked the earth. The house of God is filled with satisfied people; but the harvest fields are empty. Who will go and work for God today? Christians want to be fed; but they remain inactive. They go to church to warm the pew and never think about what God will have them to do. Do you know that you are a living sermon? As a Christian, your role is to be an ambassador for Christ. Do you know that the only Bible some people will read is your life? Thus, without saying a word, individuals can be used by the Holy Spirit. Sometimes,a simple grace before meals can provide a sign to others. During a visit to Philadelphia I was invited to dinner. Before I touched a morsel, I blessed the food. This blessing of the food proved to be a sign to the hostess, who had a ministry. The disciples recognized the resurrected Christ when He broke bread.
Preach The Gospel
God has given the command to preach the gospel to the world. At one time, this meant travelling long distances as missionaries or evangelists. Some people have been charged to travel and hold meetings in a tent, church or on the street. What is the gospel? A summary is found in John 3:16. What the world needs is love. The world need the love of God made real in their heart and life. Who provides this love? The love of God is shed abroad in our heart by the Holy Spirit. When it is flu season, millions become sick from the virus, which spreads quickly; and some die. However, the love of God does not endanger lives.
The love mankind offers cannot be compared to the love of God. Love is a fruit of the Holy Spirit and is God personified. Love endures to the end. But, instead of talking love, God wants Christians to live love. Dying men and women need to know about repentance. Like the Samaritan woman, thirsty souls need Living Water not found in a well. Many weary souls - Christians and unbelievers - need an encouraging word. In their darkness, they need the Light of Hope. Thus, Christians are to be a flint spark, match, candle, lantern, lamp, lighted buoy, a lighthouse, a well - lit communication tower set on a high hill. Let your light shine for the world!
Return of Jesus
The return of Jesus Christ is imminent. My first computer was a Commodore 64; and the internet was decades away. Today people travel with i pods, notebook computers and mini computers. God has to melt down His saints in order to put them in circulation. Too many gilded saints adorn the body of Christ. Too many needy people can benefit if they obey the commands of God.
God needs articulate Christians too. Are you willing to speak a word for Jesus? People nowadays do not have the time to hear a multitude of words. But words aptly spoken have value according to Solomon. Since God has warned believers of what will happen before He returns, they have a responsibility. People will have itching ears. They want you to say what they want to hear. In Timothy, Christians are told to preach the word whether it is acceptable or not to the listeners. Study the Scriptures in order to be wise and keen. When the disciples opened their mouth, the Bible scholars of that time knew they had been with Jesus.
Pentecost provided the united, praying church in the Upper Room with what every believer needs today. Without the zeal and enabling power provided by the Holy Ghost, work for God is vain. Do you want to know what God will have you to do? Communicate with Him often. With the advent of cell phones, people are always texting or talking to friends - sometimes while they are driving. When the minutes run out, the individual has to buy more talk and text time. Not so with God. His communication system is unlocked; and the time He allows in unlimited. In fact, God invites all to come boldly to Him. Do you know that before you call on Him, He will answer; and while you are still speaking He will hear?
Jesus is coming soon; and since you do not know when, it is critical that you are ready to meet Him. Do you have friends and family who do not know Him personally yet? Turn them over to Jesus. He knows what to do. Ask Him how you may be of service before another weary soul faints. He will tell you. What a difference it will make to the world when God melts down His saints!
