"What he learns, we all learn. What he knows, we all benefit from."

Linux has always been about community. When Linus Torvalds released the first Linux kernel on the Internet and said "hey, let's see what we can all do with this," it was an enlightened act that started a process of improvement and achievement that continues today.

It didn't take very long at all for the major high-technology companies to notice Linux. The reason they noticed is because Linux was being developed by a team of hundreds of thousands of people, more than could be mustered by any company, high-technology or not. The statement that IBM made in this commercial is as important now as it was when the commercial was first broadcast. It is a message that transcends the petty details of everyday business and reinforces the basic values of cooperation.

Linux is strong because represents the best of human progress.
