Do My Dog's Nails Need Cut?
66
How do I know when to cut my dog’s nails?
- Pets tend to bite or pull on their nails when the nails grow too long or has fractures in the nail
- Pets which are kept indoors may get their nails caught in the carpet
- The pet walks across linoleum flooring you can hear his feet "click" against the floor
- The pet might show signs of pain while running or jumping which is a good indication the nails are too long
- Splaying of the pet's toes caused by the nails touching down before the pads of the foot causing the toes to spread.
See the article I've written on how often to have the nails cut.

Christopher,
Great tip!
Thanks for passing it along
Susan
omg im a groomer and judging from the pic your dogs nails are extremely long...most gogs wont tolerate the drummel or pedi-paws type things you need to get a nail clipper and cut until you see a little black dot in the center of his nail...this is very important because if you dont his veins could grow making it almost impossible to cut the nails at that point

I use this little trickyo trim my dog's nails :Grasp the individual nail very firmly above the clipper before clipping. In other words, don't let the clipper support the nail while cutting.Holding the nail in this manner keeps the trimmer from transmitting any vibrations/feelings to the toe. Try it, you'll be surprised.
