As a fellow coffee fanatic, I am sure that you are constantly on the lookout for the best place to sip your cup of Joe. In that case, it is definitely worth doing a worldwide search of the best places to find delicious and rich coffee beverages that you would be a fool to miss out on. One interesting thing to take into account is the different coffee cultures worldwide and what they have to offer us. For instance, in Europe, coffee is a way of life where it is enjoyed socially and sipped on for hours with a group of friends. In Australia, Starbucks actually failed because Australia has already cultivated an intense coffee culture that cannot be disrupted by quick and easy coffee drinks that are so popular in the US. So where will your coffee journey take you? Let's begin...

Italy seems like the appropriate place to start since the Italians have brought us wonderful espressos, cappuccinos, and lattes to influence our coffee culture.  The trick is that Italians view cappuccinos as only a morning time drink, so it is best to order them before lunch to not disrupt any cultural customs. Again, it is important to take the time to sit and enjoy your drink in a café as a way to socialize and connect with friends. In Australia, the coffee tradition is greatly impacted by Italian and Greek roots, and as I mentioned above, Australia has created a solid coffee culture that cannot be disrupted by the likes of Starbucks. You will definitely be able to find a number of independent coffee houses and cafés that work at cultivating their own brew that is unlike any other. There is even a coffee house in Australia that is the only location in the world to sell the rare Kopi Luwak coffee beans from tree cat excrement for $33 a cup. A diamond in the rough!

With it you visit Amsterdam, a word to the wise is that the term "coffee shop" is it usually where marijuana is sold, so look for a variety of numerous high quality cafés that offer delicious brews. There are many brown cafés that are paneled with wood where you can have an espresso with friends and a tasty afternoon snack to tide you over. For optimal coffee drinking in the US, Seattle is obviously the place to be since that is where all of our coffee tradition started. You, of course, have to be a Starbucks lover because that is where the monster chain hails from, but also expect to see numerous micro-roasters and independent coffee houses that will give you truly superb and unique roasts. They do have to live up to the high coffee standards of the Seattle residents who will not settle for less than the best.

Take the time to visit any of these wonderful locations to sip a cup of Joe that will be etched in your memory forever -- the way that coffee should be!

My answer to your Q is, "At home." But it's a great article, makes me want to travel, homebody that I am. But not to Australia for Kopi Luwak. :)
