Oooohhhhh!!!

It's all in your mind. Be grateful for that!
It's all in your mind. Be grateful for that!

You may well be surprised!

So, you have been led to believe that evil spirits come from the devil. Guess again. They come directly from the Jewish/Christian/Muslim god himself. Let's check out the Old Testament:

  1. JUDGES: God sends an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem;
  2. 1 SAMUEL: God sends an evil spirit to Saul so that he has a mental breakdown;
  3. 1 SAMUEL: God makes the evil spirit leave Saul after David plays his harp;
  4. 1 SAMUEL: God sends another evil spirit to Saul, causing him to prophesy;
  5. 1 SAMUEL: God’s evil spirit hangs out with Saul while he has a javelin in his hand and David plays with his hand;
  6. 1 KINGS: God sends lying spirits to prophets so that they speak evil; and
  7. 2 CHRONICLES: God sends lying spirits to prophets so that they speak evil.

You just can't make this kind of stuff up. No matter how you slice it, evil is a creation of the Biblical god. And that includes the creation of the devil himself, who, by the way, was God's right hand man for much of the time.

Now, you can continue to believe that evil is a separate force from good. But, as you can see from the above set of scriptural passages, the so-called good god of the Bible is the very one who brought evil into existence.

Before you think I am actually being critical here, understand this: Good cannot exist without evil, and vice versa. They complement each other. You can only recognize good because evil exists. Nothing more, nothing less. You are as blind in all light as you are in all dark. The contrast is essential for survival itself.

The universe is created in a way the brings all opposites into play. Light vs. dark; up vs. down; in vs. out. You get the picture. Good and evil are no different. One needs the other. God needs the devil, at least in the minds of those who think God is distinct and separate (read "above") from the rest of the Cosmos.

In the final analysis, evil is actually a blessing. It is the only way you can see the good. More important, it's the only way you can learn to PRACTICE the good. You are the final arbiter. You must make the choice. If evil flourishes in the world, it isn't because of the devil. It's because of you.

"You must be the change you would see in the world." Gandhi

Richard, I can see them plainly. All the above Scriptures are there in black and white. I truly believe God sends or allows evil spirits to come around certain people in order to test them. See if they follow down the wrong path. God never temps us, but He does indeed test us, as tested by fire for purification.

Thanks for posting!! Peace ~K

I would just like to point out that God's creations (both Spirt and Human) when first created were created perfect and given free will and free choice. Meaning, we could do or not do something, think or not think something. We were not created as robots. Satan,when he was a perfect angel of God choose to think an evil thought and he did not dismiss it. Instead he keep thinking on it until finally he acted on it. He made the choice to do evil. He was not created that way. Although he held a very high position, he was not God's right hand, Jesus was and is. Infact, it was this very fact that made Satan become jealous of Christ, creating a spirt of discontent within himself which lead to his rebellion. I do like your subject matter, Great!

No angel could rebel against God. No angel could become God's opposite. No human rebelled against God either.

If one is going to go according to Scripture, one must actually read not only the KJV or the NLT or the other versions. One must study the Greek and Latin. If you think you know the Bible simply by reading 17th or 21st century English, you are deluded.

Having said that, I will say this:

Read (in English) the story of Adam and Eve in Genesis. You will notice that they didn't realize they had done anything wrong until AFTER they had eaten the Fruit. Notice it says "And THEN their eyes were open..." which means their eyes had been closed. They did not rebel. They simply followed their senses. Good thing, too. They would still be the only two people on earth. After all, according the church dogma and doctrine down through the ages, humans and all other animals only indulge in sex for reproduction because of sin. If there had been no sin, there would be no sex and therefore, no reproduction.

Point? God knew they would eat. He intended it. He allowed the serpent to tempt them (his creation also). He knew the choice they would make. Why? Because that was the plan.

Don't fool yourself into thinking that any of us, including the devil and the spirits, had any real free will.

By the way, I salute Lucifer. He was the only one who had the balls to stand up to the Great Dictator. Read the Old Testament closely. That's what God is. He is jealous, angry, vindictive, and vengeful. "I want it all my way! And if you don't obey, off to hell with you, you worthless scum!" Now we all have to get saved in order to appease this fool.

Not me. I know that the Creator of the universe and the idiot in Genesis are not the same. The Creator of the universe is truly creative. Just look at the structure of everything. Look at the cell. Look at nebulas, black holes, white dwarfs, planets, moons, trees, insects, bones, blood, even spiders. The god of Genesis is nothing more than a sorry magician. Poof! There it is. Now worship me or else.

Prove me wrong, if you can.

To Hoowantstono: Sorry, I thought you meant what I had written didn't show up at all. Actually, I deliberately left out the actual scriptures. Those are really want to know will find them in the books mentioned. Makes a little more work, but practice makes perfect, right?

Thanks for mentioning it.

I found them, yes it confirms evil Spirits are subject to God, and obey him, as do the good Angels.

I would then say God allows good to happen and bad to happen, just depends on the person and who he believes in.

Simple? Not really. If God created everything, he created--if not evil itself--the possibility of evil for the reasons I explained above. You and I would have no sense of what good is if we had nothing to compare with it. Also, it's important to remember that most likely there is no inherent good or evil in the universe, only what we perceive it to be. And without the ability to choose evil, we would have no choice whatever. All options must be available. Including the choice to kill and rape and murder and cheat and crucify Christs. Without that ability, we are just one more animal operating on instinct.

The Creator knows what it's doing. All is in perfect order. No mistakes. No fault. No blame. Everything is energy. Only the form changes. And, on top of that, there is only One Energy. Love. And Love is the only Reality. Of that, I am certain. And for that, I am truly grateful.

The book of Job clearly shows how God allowed Satan to wreak havoc on Job's life for the sake of testing him, in order to prove His point that Job was His worthy servant, and no matter how much pain or suffering, he would still be loyal. But I will have to admit, the book of Job was one of the hardest books in the Bible for me to read and digest.

Kim: You're on target. Especially when you consider that God, who is supposed to know everything, should have to test ANYONE in order to prove ANYTHING. God should have know that Job would react as he did. He should have known that the tests would not make Job change his mind. If he didn't, then he is not all knowing, therefore, not all wise. Wait... Who is this god? Oh, yeah. He is a hold over from the Egyptian gods. After all, the Hebrews were captive for a lot of years. They were bound to pick up some bad habits. Yahweh is one of those bad habits.

Picky? Not really. Just trying to understand how people can still believe that the god of the Old Testament is the one and only creator when he obviously has no real idea what his creation is up to.

Don't believer me? Read it more closely. The truth will show itself and you'll be amazed.

Many blessings.

Thanks for your reply Richard. I have read and reread the book of Job, like I said, not an easy book to make my way through. But...the conclusion I have come up with is to prove to all humanity that no matter how bad things get; our health, trials, tribulations, finances, hunger, pain...etc...the final hope and only hope we have is our Faith in God and prayer. To sum it up; when Job began to pray for his friends and realize God's Omnipotence in the scheme of things, he then began to heal. God healed Job, and blessed him with everything he had lost and more. Hard lesson to learn? Yes without a doubt, but one I will never forget. And what I've taken with me in my spirit from reading the book of Job is no matter how bad I feel, and no matter how much pain I'm in, to always pray for others. I've laid in bed many nights wreathing in pain, but once I focused my mind on praying and the healing of others who need God's loving touch, did I myself began to feel blessed and touched by the hand of God. I do thank you for your posts as they are most thought provoking. And it makes "us"....who call ourselves Christians dig deeper to try to find out why. (((Love thy neighbor as thyself))). Peace and blessings!! ~K

You have indeed gotten the point. When one looks at the Book of Job as a lesson in trust, in faith, it takes on a much deeper meaning. Rather than seeing it as a weird god doing a weird trip on a poor believer, it becomes evident, when studied closely, that it means just as you surmise. The Buddha taught that life is suffering. Jesus seemed to agree. But Jesus was quick to point out in many places that as we place our trust in the Father, or the Creative Source, we will find that our journey through the suffering is much more bearable. We are continually blessed if we will but recognize that fact. Will we hurt sometimes? Of course. Life is tough. No doubt about that. But there is a place within our hearts where the Spirit resides. When we get in touch with that place, our trip through life becomes a joy. And we then are free to share our joy with world without compulsion!

What a trip.
