Many people hear the tales of the new Internet millionaire everyday, be it from a friend, the t.v. commercials, or in the spam in their inbox. Is it true? Well, sometimes. Mostly it's a sales method to get you to buy the latest new product, and its probably coming from someone who hasn't made a dime on the internet. The information they are trying to sale to you is from some other jerk who promised this person that they can sell this e-book and they will be a internet millionaire.

The cold hard truth

The truth of the matter is that the easiest way to make a quick dollar on the web is to sell a product promising to make someone else rich. Can you become rich off of the internet? Sure, but chances are it' s not going to happen to you! However the internet is full of opportunity if you know what to look for. I am going to go over the best way I have found to make money online.

Ebay

If you want to make money online and avoid the scams, than look no furthur than ebay. Many people are not aware of it, but ebay has one of the most scam proof proof programs on the internet. Ofcourse scams still happen, but I would say you have the same chance getting scamed on ebay as you do off-line. They have been around for about as long as the web has been popular, and they are ussually one step ahead of the crooks.

Selling on ebay

Selling on ebay is the hardest easy thing you will ever do, or the easiest hard thing. What does that mean? Well, you can set up an account list some products and sell them very easily. However getting the best profit out of your products and sourcing new products that you can make a profit from can be tricky to say the least.

I frequently meet people who are amazed at how fast they can sell their personal products on ebay, but later become discouraged when trying to obtain inventory that they can make a profit from. This is where creativity and a sense of business come to play.

Finding products to sell on ebay is actually easier than you might think. The trick is to be more creative and popular than the next ebay seller.

Where to find products to sell on ebay

As a ebay power seller I was asked multiple times daily where to find products to sell on ebay. I always said the same thing, and that was to do a google search. Of course no-one believed me, they always thought I had this secret wholesale list that I was keeping to myself.

The truth of the matter is that there is no secret wholesale list. many people will try to sell you one, but I assure you that you can find the same thing by doing a google search.

The way you make your money on ebay is not where you get the products, it's how you manage your listings. Be creative with your listings, and be popular by having products that many people are looking for. If you have a popular product combined with the popularity of ebay, you will sell just as many as you can possibly list.

If you list 50 popular items per day and only make 25 cents from each item, you have made a $12.50 profit. I know thats not much, but here is the trick you then cross sell your less popular items that people may not be searching for, but when they come accross it they then buy it.

For instance if I would list about 50 new release dvds and actually lose money one these dvds, however I also listed 100 to 200 older dvds which I got from salehoo for around the same price. When people searched for these new release dvds they would see these older dvds listed at the bottom and buy them. They wasn't searching for these titles because the hadn't heard about them in a while, but when they seen them they decided to go ahead and buy them.

Creativity

I don't care what you are selling, someone wants to buy it. Being creative with your listing, and giving your customer a sense of value is the key to getting the bids.

Think about something you recently purchased in a store on impulse (didn't plan to buy it) There were likely a few of the same products on display. So what made you pick up the brand that you actually purchased? This one product either gave you a better sense of value, was the first one you got to, or had a pretty wrapper that made it stand out.

Keep these three things in mind when you list your items.

  • Inform your customers Give your customers directions on using the product more efficiently, tell them uses for the product that they may be unaware of
  • Make your package pretty Take good pictures. Instead of the same old picture try posting a picture of the product in use (having a cute child, or a sexy model want hurt!)
  • Ad value Do you have two products that will compliment each other? Try selling them in a package deal. This one method has made me more money on ebay than the all the others combined!
  • Make your product the first to be seen You can't control which order your listing will show up on the screen, but you can make it stand out on the screen. Ever seen these little charactors ~ NEW ~, or **** Great Deal **** Make your listing stand out from the rest, and be seen first!

Be popular

If there was one peice of advice I would give any ebay seller, it would be to make your profits in quantity. Cross selling is a major is the biggest profit puller for any business. For instance gas stations only make cents on the dollar for the gas they sell, they make thier profits by cross selling items such as soft drinks, candybars, etc. to thier customers who stop for gas. Ebay already cross sells merchandice for you, but you can take it one step furthur by placing links to items that compliment your more popular items. I sold dvds on ebay, and I always purchased new release dvds and listed them to bring traffic to my other dvds. Even though I lost money doing this, I made it up by selling more of the older dvds that I had a higher mark up on. So the point is the more list the more your items will be seen.
