Obama's Stimulus Package Jobs
53
Most Job Creation in Federal Sector So Far
The jobs are in the public sector as an outcome of President Barack Obama's $787 Economic Stimulus Package that was passed into law February of 2009. The purpose of the president's economic stimulus package was to bring a jolt to the American economy which has been in a recession since December of 2007. Once the recovery package was passed into law, economists predicted that the effects would not be seen until mid 2009, a few predicted changes in the economy by 2010 and still others are saying that the results will not be until 2011.
Obama's stimulus package promised a record 3.5 million jobs which would be part of the great overhaul of federal programs weeding out the ones that do not work and enhancing the federal programs that do work. The unemployment rate has notw reached 9.6 per cent however and appears to be approaching 10% as more workers are being layed off and major corporations like GM and Chrysler are struggling with bankruptcies for sustainability.
Obama recently promised that 600,000 more jobs will descend upon Americans during the summer of 2009. As the economy contracts with the myriad of federal programs from the recovery plan, the $275 billion housing plan and allocations of federal funds to two ongoing wars overseas; the American unemployed are beginning to questions where are the jobs that the president promised.
The Kiplinger's Personal Finance publication states that most of these jobs will be in the public sector as government revamp the health system to bring it up to 21st century standards of information technology. A few states such as California across the country that have seen a resurgence of jobs in the transportation area as funds from the stimulus package began trickling down into building more buses for public transportation. The Veterans Affairs office has used the money from President Obama stimulus package to mail out $250 payments to eligible veterans who qualified. States across the country are working with the Government Accounting Office to ascertain that the money is being allocated to the different programs in their perspective states properly.
The Kiplinger's Personal Finance publication wrote that the president's 600,000 job promise out of the 3.5 million of jobs promised out of the stimulus package will span over four or more years. Almost five million people have lost their jobs with 2.5 million more expected to lose their jobs according to the finance print media. The publication stated quite optimistically that there is an expected full employment of the American workforce by the year 2012. To protect such a projectory of full employment , Kiplinger's Personal Finance indicated that even in a state of full employment there is always a percentage of the workforce that will be unemployed.
But where are the jobs now, other than the public sector in the state, local and federal governments. Health care as always in the American economy wlll provide a platform of jobs for the unemployed. President Obama's intention of a paperless health care system mandates that the employment in this area of the economy will increase significantly. Also as the first president to carry a blackberry into the white house and Obama's perchants for computer and green technology, there is an expected increase of jobs in information technology.
It may be advantageous for the unemployed who is able and interested to become educated in the area of Health IT. Also Obama emphasis on universal health care serves as an added impetus to jobs in this area and also in private insurance companies. Nurses and social workers should also have many jobs availabe as a result of the president's efforts in health care reform.
Educators will be in high demand as well as other public jobs in transportation, energy and green technology.Cities rich in these jobs as a result of President Obama's recovery plan include Boston, Philadelphia, Raleigh, Durham, Chicago and Seattle. States rich in jobs include Texas, Okahoma, Montana, and Wyoming. Jobs are always available in retail food services, agriculture, governments on all levels and nonprofit organizations.

Travis, thank you for your comment. The $275 Billion Housing Bill has passed which was a sure thing as the Senate and the House of Representatives have a Democratic majority. The $787 Economic Stimulus Package has also passed with the help of three Republicans and with a majority of Democratic votes. The 600,000 jobs is not allocated from a bill but is part of the 3.5 million jobs promised in the stimulus package.
Sorry, I was refering to the Cap & Trade bill that is coming up for a vote in the Senate & whatever bill they are concocting in Congress right now concerning health care...you had aluded to both of those in your article.

Linda, hopefully both of the bills you refer to in your post will not pass. They will be much more detrimental to the economy as a whole compared to the benefits being touted by the people supporting these fallacies, in the guise of congressional bills...
