Advice from a Lady

If you really wanna impress the ladies, you've got to look good from the head to the toe. And yes, sometimes this might cost you a pretty penny. Guys don't always notice little details, but just as chicks notice when each other get a haircut or get their nails done, they notice when you've got your Diesels on versus your Target brand jeans.

The NUMBER ONE place for men to shop is Bloomingdales at the Westfield Shopping Center on Fifth and Mission. Bloomindales has such a killer men's section that frankly sometimes I wish I was a dude so I could shop there. They have an excellent shoe section and a great casual section for buying Metro-ish clothing from all the leading designers. The downfall of Bloomies is, of course, the price, so sometimes you've gotta wait for the sales to really find some gems. If you can drop some cash, go with one really great pair of jeans that look good with everything. That's the thing about designer jeans, they look amazing on you no matter what body type you might have. Next purchase, some really original looking or classy looking shoes. You know how girls feel about shoes! They notice yours too, so try to make a good impression. I don't know how many of my friends have said the deal breaking line, "he was cute, but he had the weirdest shoes on..."

For designer brands with marked down prices go Nordstrom Rack or Loehmans. These two stores follow the Ross "dress for less" but have legit designer brands and super nice stuff. Jeans and shoes are a must here, since they have the same stuff that you'd find at Bloomies or even Sacks, but they're totally marked down. Work clothes and suits are another great thing to buy here because they have tons of choices and again, designer brands to make you look classy and professional. Nordstrom Rack is on 9th St in SOMA, and Loehmans is on Sutter downtown across from the Banana Republic Flagship store.

Yes you can get some good stuff at Abercrombie and Fitch, but that's kind of for College Days, so if you're pushing 30, I'd stay away from it. There are a few boutiques on Chestnut St, Union St, and Fillmore St in the Pac Heights/Marina area, but there you will mostly find stores for women.

Good stores are hard to find, but if you get a few of the essentials and then build from there, you should be all set!
