Today David is in Cody, Wyoming, elevation 5230
The temperature is 67.8 °F and clear with 22% humidity and a dew point of 28F. The wind is coming in at 8 miles per hour from the East, Northeast and gusting at 12 mph. A good day for biking, but the weather report for Yellowstone is not good- well not good for David, but hopeful for firefighters battling a blaze.
David wrote: Hey barb, I am taking the day off due to the inability to get a place to stay in Yellowstone tonight. I have updated my blog quite a bit this morning and will do more tonight.
I am currently at the buffalo bill museum.
Cody is a great spot to spend a day off, but I am sad about Yellowstone National Park. I texted him back after I read this...
According to the Salt Lake Tribune: Crews battling a 14.5-square-mile wildfire in Yellowstone National Park contended with unusually low humidity Monday and awaited a weather system that could bring winds and precipitation... Kempton said fire managers were closely monitoring the weather forecast. Meteorologists predicted Monday's calm winds would pick on Tuesday to 23 to 29 mph from the southwest. The forecast also called for rain, temperatures in the mid-30s and possible snow.
"The wind as this storm system comes in can certainly accelerate the fire, but at the same time we're anticipating moisture along with that," Kempton said.
Yeah, everything seems to be a mess.... Hopefully I can make my way through it! David answered.

Here are a few comments found at his blog- most recent ones are first:
We met briefly in Wall, SD (Badlands) on Sept 21st after your long days ride in high winds. I found the napkin with your link and wanted to drop you a note of appreciation and encouragement. I admire what you're doing and can only imagine the daily commitment you're putting in to meet an aggressive 8,000 mile
Ride strong! Regards, Bob
It looks like I am the first of our group to leave a message on your website, Dave. For everyone else reading this, I was biking through Vermont and New York with two friends when we merged with Dave and spent two days biking together before we parted ways in Ticonderoga. Since then, we've asked, "I wonder where Dave is now?" So, where is Dave now? Keep us posted. BTW, thanks for the tip about increasing my cadence: it did take a lot of strain off of my knees and helped with conserving energy. Best of luck going Westward.

My nephew David graduated from college over a year ago with a degree in biomedical engineering, got a job in the medical equipment field, switched companies and was promptly laid off. Rather than feel sorry...

Jaspal, I am going to copy this to his Comments page, okay??? I want him to read it and he doesn't have time to read my hubs!
Shalini emailed me to say the link I am providing for donations goes to the wrong place, so here is the one she provided that is accurate:
These are the kind of stories that touch the heart...that people would actually connect hard enough with someone they only meet briefly, that they would take the time to find the napkin with the web site, and write words of encouragement to an unassumingly modest hero archetype.
It is fascinating that this SO brings out the best of people.
Dave's Dad
Sure Story, you are welcome! I did write something on his guest book, though.
Yes, I was also trying that donations page - with the different options, one can get stuck!
I have to get into bike riding. My feet and I have this love-hate relationship. It is so cool you are keeping up with his trek for a worthy cause.
Thanks AIDY! Now I can click on your name and go back to my comment for an answer, lol.

That's a very nice pic of David at Niagara with the rainbow right behind him!
On his twenty fifth here's wishing him good luck, good health, God speed, a lovely and loving girl (you never mentioned anything about any gf anywhere) and even that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!
