Which Popcorn Pops the Fastest

Which popcorn pops the fastest?
Generally, popcorn actually doesn't vary much by brand. There are other factors that mean much more to the speed and quality of popping than the brand of the popcorn.
1. The Expiration Date - Popcorn that is closer to its expiration date probably won't pop very well. Popcorn needs internal moisture to pop, and it tends to dry out a lot as it ages.
2. The Way It Was Stored - If popcorn was stored at high temperatures where the moisture would sweat out, or it was stored where it would dry out easily (not in an airtight container), then it may not pop very well.
3. How It's Popped - Popping in very hot oil generally causes popcorn to pop faster. The faster the water content inside the popcorn is heated, the faster it will pop. Just remember, oil that is TOO hot can cause the kernels to burn and could cause the popcorn to be tough.
If you want your popcorn to pop faster, here are a few tips that may help you:
1. Buy popcorn in jars rather than bags, and keep it stored in a cool, dark place inside an airtight container.
2. Use popcorn well before the expiration date, and never buy popcorn that is close to the expiration.
3. Throw out popcorn that smells stale. Stale-smelling kernels won't pop very well and won't taste good, either.
