Whinny, If You Love Horses!

Ever since I was a little girl, I had wanted to own my own horse. I got married and lived on a dairy farm. My husband agreed that I could buy a horse much to many protests from my father-in-law. The first horse we bought was named Clyde. This horse dealer saw us coming and he knew we didn’t know much about horses. He sold us Clyde for a 15 year old horse when he really was 30+ years old. They say you should never trust a used car dealer, but what about a used car dealer and a horse dealer rolled into one? Well Clyde didn’t last long. He ran from me every time he thought we were going riding because he was just too old and too tired. When we did ride and Clyde got tired, he would just lay down and refuse to get back up. Well we traded him in on a younger horse. Then I talked my husband into getting the second horse so my daughters could ride with me. Finally after 6 horses, I found 2 good quarter horses that was keepers.

I had a buckskin quarterhorse named Streak. He was a beauty! He was really gentle and loved to go riding. He had been a trail horse in a youth camp and he definitely was a follower. My quarterhorse, Flame, was a sweetheart but he definitely was the leader. They loved carrots and apple treats and they were always ready for a ride.

I had some of the best riding trails in the country around where I lived. We could go on a ride for an hour or up to 4 hours depending which way you wanted to go. I especially loved to go for a ride in the fall up to high country where you could see for miles and enjoy all the beautiful colors of the fall foliage.

Having horses has been a life long dream come true for me and I enjoyed my 2 quarterhorses for over 10 years. I love horses, do you?

Well I'd play along and whinny if I truly could! As a little girl, I would pretend I was a horse and gallop (imitate the movement w/ two legs!) around and neigh... glad to see you are enjoying these wonderful animals and what a blessing to have trails you can easily access where you live!
