This company has a class action lawsuit filed against it for the deaths of cats and dogs. The only positive point Whisker Lickin's Tender Moments Treats for Cats received is for not having a history of recalls. Shameful and harmful ingredients comprise Whisker Lickin's Tender Moments treats for cats. I would not consider this a safe cat treat to feed any beloved cat of mine.
I'm not asking for much. This pet food product can't even make a single point out of ten on it's own merit but only on the fact the pet food company decided not to have any pet food recalled.
Let's take a look at these ingredients. (Hold on to your hat - this is going to hurt!)
Animal digest. How about that ... we don't even know from which animal the digested tissue came from. If the pet food company wanted us to know our pets were eating beef poop the company would say "Beef digest". Since the company chooses to say "animal" the animal can be anything from dog, cat, rat, road kill or whatever. AAFCO doesn't care that manure is included in the pet food as long as the temperature at the time of cooking is brought to a certain degree.
Now there are those people out there who simply refuse to believe a company would use manure in their pet foods. Let me ask you to think on this issue for just a minute and then see what you decide. Let's take a person, for instance, When a person begins the "digestion" process food is placed in the mouth for chewing. Digestion continues as the food passes to the stomach and is broken down to pass into the intestines for futher digestion. Digestion is complete once the person has had a bowl movement and fully evacuated the food from the human body. Why would obtaining human digest be any different from animal digest?
Wheat is a cheap filler used by pet food companies to reduce production costs. We should take time out from this review to remind ourselves of the good and bad effects of wheat in a cat or dog's diet. *Corn, wheat and soy are resonsible for fever, ear aches, ear infections, bad bread, dental disease, hair loss, dry and itchy skin, bloat, tumors, warts, moles, abnormal nail growth, arthritis, deafness, blindness, digestive problems, inflamed liver, inflamed kidneys, bladder problems, heart problems, and death. Oh yeah, for the good effects of corn, soy, and wheat - reduces the cost of pet food production.
Water, how about that. Here we are trying to buy a package of pet food and we purchase water. Why bother with all the other cheap fillers when the company could have just filled the container with water?
By-products are floor sweepings collected from a rendering plant. Anything that hits the floor and is not fit for human consumption is by-product. By-products can't have "added" feathers but the ones included in the mess are just fine. Meal means the floor sweepings have had the water removed and the feathers, poultry poo, whatever has hit the floor is now concentrated.
Artificial Color - Causes cancer and is not needed for good nutrition.
The first three ingredients listed make up nearly 75% of the contents of pet food. This company has listed Animal digest, Wheat flour, and corn gluten meal.

Christopher,
The animal fat is the reason your cats love this stuff. There is nothing in the mix that a cat would desire if it were not for the animal fat.
Susan
My friendly neighborhood stray cat will not even eat this.
