White Teeth Costing You More Than You Bargained For
65
I smoke, drink coffee and as we all know, keeping your teeth white is a full time job when you drink and smoke items that are going to stain your teeth and no matter what toothpaste you use, it never seems to help.
So I went looking for a teeth whitener and came across a site called Dazzle Bright. Which I later worked out they operate under different names such as Ultifreshwell, Whitesmile and Dazzle Smile etc etc etc.
It said, you can have a trial and all you pay for is the shipping cost. I thought, great, and easy way to get my teeth white and not pay out out the rear for the service. It seemed to have some good reviews and lots of information. I later learned that the site was set up with fake reviews and fake pictures.
I got my trial in the post and started to use and it and I must say it worked. I had white teeth in no time and I did not need to order anymore as there was enough to use for a long time.
A month later and I checked my bank and noticed that $80+ had been taken off my bank, now I am very careful about this and keep a close eye on what goes in and out of my bank. I called the bank to see who had charged it and they could not tell me.
I called 2 days later and found it was a company called Ultifreshwell. Now, I know I had not authorised that payment and so reported it as fraud and stopped my card, got a replacement and did some investigation.
I learnt that the company who had sent me the whitening had a clause in their "trial". For every month you kept the teeth whitening product, they would charge you $80 and also send you other products without your agreement and charge you $80 for those aswell.
I spoke to several of the people and they said that was in the terms but when I checked, it was not. It was cleverly hidden in the site itself and not easy to find.
Lucky for me, I spotted it and stopped it before it went too far. Although someone I was talking to a while later said they were going through the same thing with diet pills and it seemed to be from the same sort of company, however they were not so lucky.
They were on holiday when the company started taking money out and they ended up losing $500 dollars.
Their teeth were white and they lost weight though. Not from the products but the fact that they are a student and could not afford to eat etc.
What I did learn is the company did have a 60 day return and refund policy and if you have a Credit Card you can claim under the protection policy.
So, when you are looking to whiten your teeth or anything else for that matter. Don't hand your card details over unless you know for 100% sure there is no hidden charge for the item. They will sting you and you may not have any protection.
