Animals at our Local Zoo: White Tiger
64We went to the local zoo last Sunday. This is the Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Vandaloor. Vandaloor is a suburb of Chennai, where I live, and most of it is still a forest.
The pride of the zoo is a pair of White Tigers, Bhishmar and Anu. I don't know who is who, but I took pictures of them both. The reclining one must be the male, I think, as lazy as a chap watching TV while his wife is busy doing something. They nuzzled and danced, but I didn't think like a photographer; I was enthralled, and forgot to go click click click.
Aren't they beautiful? They were a big hit with everybody. People went ooh and aah with every graceful movement. Though my son thinks they are too fat.
The beautiful couple is only three years old.
Hope their union is blessed and we see a cute cub soon!
Want to know more about them?

Nice pussycats! Can I take one home? As my youngest used to ask about anything furry and four-legged.
Great HUB and pictures
regards Zsuzsy
BEAUTIFUL....If i ever win the lotto"which will be hard as i rarely do i would buy a zoo and fill it with every animal in the world "within reason" with so much land the animals will be so happy..
Ohh to dreamm....
My dreams have just got bigger!! ...I now would love to build a house in the middle of the Serengeti..That would be the most beautiful thing in the world for me to do and my final answer:)
Stunning. I love all cats, house and wild. It's my favorite part of the zoo. Well, that and ahem, spiders. :O
Grand hub~
Woah, beautiful!
Kenny have you seen Ligers before?
Great Hub,
Thoog.
Thank you, Gang! I'm delighted that you are delighted.
Isabella, lucky uncle. I have one doubt, though, about his famous neighbours.
I have a lot of scars where my kittens have playfully bitten me;
doesn't it hurt when these large economic size kitties play with one?
Zsuzsy, I don't blame your children; exactly what I feel!
Compu-smart, may your beautiful dreams happen!
Iðunn, spiders? My son likes the reptile house, but I don't share his passion or yours. I'm like a woman; I don't fall in love with creepy crawlies.:) Except geckos.
No, Thoogun, haven't seen Ligers, but would love to.
what a glorious day for your family..wish I was there ! And the photo's are wonderful of the tigers Grrrrrr..but all your photo's are good. G-Ma :O)
Kenny: Thanx for the honor and I did the same to you! thanx again! wonderful pictures. what opther animals do you like?
Thank you for the happy growl, G_ma! :)
Jackilyn, thank you very much, what a coincidence that was. Magic
I love elephants and dolphins best. Next I'll put up a jumbo hub.
I love the graphic beauty of zebras and giraffes. Of course, I love the duck-billed platypus.
I love most bears. I love Koalas best. Of the primates, I love orangutans best.
Many more, my love is very fickle, hee hee.
Ooooh and ahhh.... I was actually saying this out loud. What beautiful pictures and tigers. I still get amazed at this technology, that allows one to connect to others worldwide. Thanks for giving us a glimpse of your side of the fence!
Yes, VioletSun, I'm also amazed at and grateful to technology. It helped me shoot the pix, share them, and delight in the reactions. So many pieces of tech that make the rest of the world and people accessible.
And thank you!
Kenny, maybe a bit slower on the Elephants, we have just had an elephant stand on his keeper of four Years. Yes you guessed it. The man was killed.
You could say stepped to death. Could you put some details on an Email for me please.
Ah, Frank, that happens frequently in India, too. Usually it is due to illtreatment.
What details do you require Frank? Will do.
Kenny - I have no idea, and hopefully, I never will. :) I know the cats used to sit at the dinner table with them, though, so I guess they were docile!
Thanks for making me picture the big cats at the table, with napkins, and forks and knives! LOL
And thank you for helping me out with the layout of the other hub, KInd Isabella! It worked!
No probs. :)
Kenny, these are amazing. Just as you forgot to clikc, click, click, I was so stunned by these pictures that i forgot to tap, tap, tap - was just about to move on when I remembered! Stunning photographs of magnificent creatures. I know Bristol zoo had a pair sent over from India but that's going back about 15 years. They did have a cub. I went to visit when I was writing my children's picture book on India. Couldn't get pictures of the tigers in, though, as far as I recall.
*bows to* Isabella.
Thanks Rapidwriter for all that! Did you write a picture book on India? Lemme go check your hubs for that book. :)
You clicked the pictures Kenny Right? It is wonderful to see such beautiful animals.I haven't been to the zoo for along long time.It was before marriage and I saw some beautiful Leopards there. The tigers are a beauty.I have seen white elephants and they are just as beautiful.
Yes, Abhinaya, took them myself. The regular tigers were at quite a distance and I didn't get good shots. Why don't you all make another visit? Now it's all green and clean!
And thank you.
hey Kenny,
I made an elephant hub! check it out. =]
I will Kenny, with my kids this time. They are sure to love it.
Can never get enough, such beautiful creatures!
Great, Jackilyn, I just did! And fell in love!
Abhinaya, please plan for a day. A delightful day.
If you have a handycam, post a youtube vid. They charge you only 125.
Research, welcome to my hubs! Thank you!
how to import photos in the the text capsule?
Wow, they are gorgeous! And the habitat, much like the elephants is fantastic! If I ever have the opportunity to visit India, I will make it a point to go and see this zoo for myself. Wonderful!
Shyam, I didn't import photos into the text capsule. Please use the picture capsule to do that. It's very simple to use. Thanks for visiting!
Ashley, I love your profile pic! You own a few animals? Lucky!
Cynna, thank you. Yes, it's a great place.
Lots of space and lots of greenery.
Please visit the zoo when you can! Welcome!
Enjoyed seeing the White Tigers from afar. I don't think I'd want to get too close, though.
Ah, yes, unless I'm sure they are tame. But what fun is it when they are tame?
These are beautiful creatures by far! Great hub! Did you have fun?
Oh yes, Whitney, we had great fun, and these, as you said, were the most beautiful and most popular couple in the zoo! Thank you!

I love white tigers! Your pics are lovely! My uncle lives directly across the street from Siegfried and Roy, and they used to live with their tigers and all their other animals. They invited everyone from their block over to meet them, to show them how tame they were. He got some amazing pics! Course.. not sure if the tigers still live with them these days.. but your pics are lovely!
