Who Cares, Anyway...Smile!
71Who Cares, Anyway... Smile!
Before I step into corporate world, I have worked as a Sales Personnel in one of the famous RTW Stores in the country. No need to mention names in particular. My Lady Boss, the owner, would always visit the store where I am being assigned at and would always cuss us in a manner that she maintains her good posture where it seems nobody notice that she was actually nagging us. Basically, I admire the way she carry it. During those times, some customers would suddenly asks like, "Oh, is she mad?", and I would rather smile instead of answering it so. Fortunately I am cause I have never been nagged by her, my boss, even when the time I reached my supervisory level. I considered it not or never because, I did not take it personally. As I said earlier, you can never notice the way she is nagging. The way she addresses all the bad words against is simply in gestures, she even smiles at the customers passing by. I remember one time when my Sales Personnel was cussed by her in front of many customers, my SP cried afterwards. Then my boss asked her, "then, why are you crying? Don't you wanna learned here?" before she smiled at me and said..."I don't like her." After that incident, I took a chance conversing my SP during her break time. I asked her, "do you still wanna continue doin' your preferred job?" She just nodded without looking at me. And I said frankly at her, "Mam doesn't like you, but that doesn't mean she is firing you. I want you improve." End of convearsation. By that, my SP excelled and made her quotas increased doubly. She would always compete to achieve my sales quota and become one of the top sales personnel. The good point here is that, the cussing and bossy attitudes of our boss doesn't made her withdrawn but rather made her become more productive.
The very first time I dealt with this type of boss, I also cried without him knowing that I am. That was my first time to have stepped in a customer related works. The boss that I have had would always yell and curse, whatever different bad laguages he pronounced to us, and who could not cry if you were the first time. After a month or two, I resigned after a moment of conversing at him, without realizing that it was only his way of challenging his people...without realizing that, he was a real kind hearted individual. But, I was in a trial-and-error then the reason why I decided to resign abruptly. After that experience, I could already carry and deal with those kind of bosses.I can also differentiate the bossy one and the real boss in nature. It is much hard to deal with the bossy one rather than a "boss" in particular.
Somehow, my Lady Boss and the latter boss have something in common. They only differs the way they addresses the words. But exactly the same. Their way of simply challenging their workers. That easy.
Taking it personally will not give you an increase. Who cares, anyway. You can always wear a smile after listening to their unpresedented dialogues, whatever.

thanks for the advice,
I don't think his yelling and cursing has helped me at all. I became worse and worse at the job instead improving. Usually when he does act up like that in front of our customers, I would look at the customers and give them the look, he's at it again. They would either laugh with me or fuss at him for being such an ass to me. If I do smile, he'll gets pissed off anywayz, so its a lose-lose situation....
