The Hype on the comic book is very warranted and has been know about for years, i for one had not really paid attention to it until about 10 years ago. Wizard magazine and many writers in the comic book business and in other genres of TV and movies have credited it to be such a big influence...well since i was 10 or 11 of the time it came out in the 80s and was completed i never had the appreciation for it that the pros and other fans did well because quite frankly the bar of comics had been set up so high and current comic book genre is so great and vast with so much wealth of knowledge, concept, and entertainment on all sorts of levels that have affected modern media of comic books, graphic novels, video games, TV, and movies.....it shows in almost every modern comic book, TV shows such as Heroes ( Sylar/etc.) and Lost (time travel/flashbacks) and etc.

I just skim read the graphic novel and never actually read the whole book from beginning to end however because i saw the film a few days ago i believe that will be one of my goals even more so now because so many great writers, creators in the industry of story telling have such a passion for this story, i could and can always learn from this and yet be entertained from it. I am currently watching the motion comic book and plan to buy the $15 graphic novel at target or my local comic book shop.

I loved the movie even going into it with only knowing the bare basics of the story but hardly any detail since i did not research it much at all. I loved the movie and can understand even more so why it was such a big deal for its time because it modernized comics and forced even more so to humanize comic book characters and to show them in gray tones of light and darkness and yet how close they can be to us in real life and yet how far off they could really be from us as well. I understand the hard, hardcore comic book fans may not have enjoyed the movie for many reasons because of the many changes done to the film however the basics where intact very well and the core is still their along with the message and complex meanings of no simple answer in the end to present itself with.

For any comic book fan this a must to read, and definitely see the film. And for anyone that like movies like iron man and the dark Knight Batman and just like deep, dark, violent, sexy, complex, drama, adult, sci-fi movie that want to see the power of not so corporate icon characters that can truly be messed with but still have so much ties to icon characters then one should watch this movie about alternate world of the 80s and if superheroes had existed in our timel ine and what might have happened if these events and people were to take place.

If you are expecting a light and fun movie and there's nothing wrong with that, because i love those types of movies as well then maybe this is not the movie for you, this is a thinking person's movies that forces one to look at one's own humanity, politics, belief, ethics, morals,and dreams in life. One should watch this movie with an open mind and heart and try not to think of these heroes as 1 dimension but as multi-dimension like real people, like us. You might enjoy the movie more like i did.

So yes i was impressed with the movie and hope to watch it again sometime really soon. I urge people to watch it and support it so other comic book movies of the same type of material can be made someday sooner then later. I guess the movie has cause to inspire me and make me think like it is suppose too and makes me see greatness in a lot of my hobby loves like lost and comic books.

Now go watch the darn movie.
