I Was Born With An Enormous Need Of Affection

Deciding to take a break from writing about Suzy and Forrest and jumping to the Q&A I ran across a fun little request that was just to tempting and could not be passed by. BadCompany99 asked, " If you could be a movie star dead or alive, who would you be?"

Question appeared to be rather simple but then I found myself pacing and thinking, seeking out the pros and cons, reviewing them for their talent and ability , honestly asking myself who would I choose to be ,over and over there was only one person who came to mind, if I could be any actress who would have been known for her talent, elegance, poise, sophistication, charm and beauty it certainly was Audrey Hepburn. Her career began in the English cinema and after being selected for the part of "Gigi" on Broadway, Audrey Hepburn in 1953 finally made her debut in Hollywood in which she had been cast in "Roman Holiday" and also took homeher first

Oscar for best actress for playing a bored little princess who appeared to be smothered by her guardians who watched over her and fell in love with an American news reporter(Gregory Peck) in the beautiful city of Rome.

Audrey Hepburn-Ruston was christened Audrey Kathleen Ruston and had been born to Baroness Ella Van Heemstra and Joseph Ruston. She had been an aristocrat from the very beginning her father was a wealthy English banker , her mother a Dutch baroness after her parents divorced she went on to a private school for girls. Audrey endured Hitler's regime when her and her mother had been vacationing and the small town of Arnhem in Holland had been invaded by the Nazis and Audrey ended up suffering from depression and malnutrition. Once Arnhem, Holland had been liberated Audrey and her mother continued to London where Audrey attended Ballet school on a scholarship and later on began a modeling career. Her beauty, poise and grace not only captured the hearts of the producers, but also captured the hearts of the people as she went on to be cast in comedies such as Sabrina 1954, Love in the Afternoon 1957, Breakfast at Tiffany's 1961, My Fair Lady 1964, and many others.

Audrey and I have similiarities when it comes to life and our perception of what is at hand and what lies ahead. I will share with you some of the quotes that I have elegantly framed and hanging on my office wall. When I have a hectic day, I look up read and remind myself about who I am, where I have come from and which direction I need to go. Keeping myself ever so humble about my beauty. I am very evenly mannered and am sincere when being thankful and accept and admire people for who they are.

" Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, its at the end of your arm. As you get older. remember you have yet another hand: the first is to help yourself, the second is to help others."

" I was born with an enormous need of affection, and a terrible need to give it."

"I never though I'd land in pictures with a face like mine."

"For me, the only things of interest are those linked to the heart."

Audrey was naturally beautiful, elegant and ever so humble. Her style of clothing was simple and classic, her sleeveless dresses and big sunglasses were fun and stylish. She was charismatic and charming throughout her entire career. If I could be any movie star it would be Audrey Hepburn she was a woman with an enormous heart.

A wonderful choice a wonderful hub. Who would I be, I really have no idea because being n actor myself I know that the persona on screen can be so different than the real person. But right off I think of two, Jimmy Stewart and Humphrey Bogart. Very different types, but so are all of me's :-)

AEvans you Hub is a lovely tribute to Miss Hepburn, and you are the perfect Hubpages Miss Hepburn.

My hero in the movies was always "Tod" in Walt Disneys "Fox and the Hound" I don't know why but I don't think he ever made another movie. ;-)

OMG!! You have picked the woman of my dreams.  If ever I get down I close my eyes and there she is waiting to help me through the bad times and to love me if I don't feel loved enough. I know that may seem soppy, but there it is.

She has indeed given me hope that maybe just maybe there is a woman out there who can be everything I longed for in life.

Wow that sounds a bit like a secret confession :)

I have a friend who is almost her double. (She's just a friend as she's 20 years younger than me). But you would be amazed at how much they look alike. I guess my mind makes any small ajustments to complete the fantasy ;)

I have so much to say about this that it would fill your hub so I'll maybe write my own hub.

My wife can have her Jonny Depps and Brad Pit's but for me there is only one fantasy that cuts it. Audrey Hepburn!

WHY? Because: " I was born with an enormous need of affection, and a terrible need to give it."

Thanks so much for a great Hub.

In an era that depicted woman with long flowing lustrous locks she displayed an elegant sensuality through her large Doe-like eyes and her sassy short doo.

I've seen almost all of her films. My fav's were GiGi and My Fair Lady...but of course. She made capris look sexy.

Nice job with this tribute;-)

I chose this hub to read (other than our animal ones:) and I admire you took the time to not just see the exterior of the late beautiful Audrey, but to look into her intellect and project that. People usually pick just who they think they'd be more attractive of, when in reality, personality makes anyone more attractive when you know things about them. Like, I think Nicole Kidman is so elegant and gracelful, talented etc. but I also see, how could she have been so blinded to fall for cruise. Sorry, not to offend your fans or you if you are a Cruise fan. It's just me that thought it was a bad decision. Great hub, nice read, and you picked great quotes as well!! :)

AEvans profile image
