If you go to the forums about social anxiety on the internet you will notice people that share their experiences with different therapies, drugs and treatments. Everyone has different levels of severity of social phobia and the treatments have different effects depending on each person.

There are people that have overcome social anxiety, but most of the people that have success get to the point that they can control it or that they dramatically reduce their anxiety.

So you will hear of people that said that they had good results with certain medication but not with the other or that a specific therapy did wonders for him, people that overcome it or control it can have a normal social life by taking control of their fears and anxiety reactions.

Is not easy to cure social anxiety just with a medication or therapy and then do everything that you never wanted to do before. Its a process and you need to put effort on your part, for many people medications help control their anxiety, but for other people treatments such as behavioral therapy are more effective because they help you change your thoughts and irrational beliefs.

  • You have to gradually meet more people, try conversations, go out to public places and you will feel more comfortable as you practice more, but to avoid panic attacks you might need medications at first.

Try to meet people that have the same hobbies and interests as you, its easier to have a conversation with someone that likes to do the same things as you or have the same passion as you.

  • Even thought there is a lot that you can do on your own to push your self forward, sometimes the help of a psychotherapist is needed to really move forward and change your life for the better.

Depending on how severe your social phobia is you can overcome it, by getting help and doing your part, dont give up without looking for professional help.
