Who have been the most oppressed group of human beings in the history of humanity?
70The Most Oppressed Group of People In History
The most oppressed group in all history is NOT who most people think, not at all. Now, most would expect me to name, say the Jews, or perhaps Africans, or women for that matter. Well, you'd be right about how badly they've been treated. You'd be wrong, however. Some people might expect me to say The Irish. Wrong again.
No, sports fans, the most oppressed group of people is the working classes. Open and shut case. The most dramatic oppression that occurs is ECONOMIC. By far. Light years ahead of anything else. The other constructs, such as race, gender, orientation, religion, none of these hold a candle to economic oppression. Think about it: From the beginning of time, you had an elite owner class and masses of people that worked for them to manufacture, transport, maintain, sell, and consume their products.
Think about it. Seriously. Just look at the United States: from the very beginning, half the wealth of this nation has been controlled by less than 10% of the population, and many of these people work in Congress. Do you really think that it was about race? No, not at all. Oppression is almost always about one thing, and that, my friends, is the money, and in the last 10 years, especially thanks to Georgie, the gap has only been getting wider and wider.
Ok, what about other places? Like, say Africa. Well, Africa used to be largely controlled by European colonial powers, and in the wake of the unraveling of the colonial period, the proprietorship of the natural resources went with the wealthy colonial class. For instance, the diamond trade. Where do you think de Beers got its start?
Now I do not advocate communism or socialism. Going by the historical record, both are an ideological pathway to authoritarianism and tyranny by either a party minority or by the majority. Just because a state has an elitist ruling class that calls itself communist doesn't mean that the fact of having an elitist, oppressive, ruling elite is justifiable. Also, communism and socialism have no provision for reward to match effort or innovation.
The working majority of the planet earth is the group who have suffered the most oppression, far more than any ethnic group, and those people in those ethnic groups are part of the working masses of the human race, which only proves my point.

Absolutely spot on K. Dorfman! There is no doubt that the working classes have since the dawn of recorded history been the most oppressed and downtrodden.
What is happening now with the economic downtourn going on across the world is that workers, who can least afford it, are being laid off to protect the profit margins of the shareholders and management elites in the various organisations.
Just check out this story to see the point: "The CEOs of the big three automakers flew to the nation's capital yesterday in private luxurious jets to make their case to Washington that the auto industry is running out of cash and needs $25 billion in taxpayer money to avoid bankruptcy."
This comes from the site http://www.alternet.org/blogs/peek/107773/
And it happens all over the world. Here in South Africa thousands of workers are being laid off while I don't hear a word about the directors and senior managers taking home less pay.
And communism/socialism are not totally the answer because as you say ruling elites behave as ruling elites do, whether in communist or any other kind of state. Some sort of true participatory democracy would seem to be at least part of the answer, but of course any adjustment to the status quo usually has to get past those same ruling elites who are naturally not eager to give up the benefits that they get from being members of a ruling elite - so catch 22, I guess.
Which doesn't mean that those of us who are not part of the ruling elite should give up - I think we can only keep on raising awareness and standing up for our rights whenever they are threatened as best we can. But its a long, uphill struggle, no doubt about it!
Thanks for a great answer to the request.
Love and peace

sounds good.
you are correct.
Even rich people in governments sometime wage wars for their own benefits.
History has examples.
