Seems like Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) might have some competition in the Twilight Saga's New Moon Movie.

Who is Jacob Black?

Jacob Black (played by Taylor Lautner) is Bella's best friend in the movie New Moon. They slowly being to develop a strong relationship as Bella is going through tough times as she tries to regroup from being without Edward.

If you've seen the first Twilight movie or have read the book, Jacob is a casual friend of Bella, being brought together by their dad's being good friends. But Bella doesn't get to know Jacob that well due to him living on the Indian reservation with his tribe the Quileute. But that all changes in New Moon.

Danger

In the beginning of New Moon Bella's life is threatened yet again and Edward feels guilty for putting her in harm's way. Refusing to ever want to her hurt again, Edward decides the best thing to do is to leave Bella. This leaves Bella in disarray as she has just lost her one and only.

Enter Jacob Black

Jacob comes to the rescue as he starts visiting Bella more often and they become best friends. Bella continues to think that all Jacob could ever be is a friend. But as time goes by Bella is slowly realizing that maybe Edward will not come back and is bad for her and that Jacob is the obvious answer-the guy that will not leave her under any circumstances...

Transformation

The story takes a turn as now Jacob is going through some 'changes' on his own. Slowly Bella starts seeing less of Jacob Black as he is being consumed by some of the other Quileute tribe members, the wolf pack. Bella realizes after awhile that Jacob isn't around at all and vows to figure out what is going on. Bella confronts Jacob and he confesses to her that he is a werewolf.

Jacob Black's Character

Jacob's character is one of a friendly, down-to-earth person. He is willingly to do anything for Bella and for the most part, doesn't leave her side, unlike Edward. Jacob is kindhearted and gentle, but with his transformation becomes very strong and develops a tougher personality and attitude. He develops in size quite considerably from his transformation and is very evident from the clips of New Moon.

New Moon is all about Jacob Black

We'll see how the movie plays out, but in the book New Moon, it is mostly about developing Jacob Black's character, and showcasing him as a definite threat for Bella's love. But things do get interesting when Bella and Edward are re-united and are faced with danger yet again. Then later on comes the REAL confrontation: Edward vs Jacob.
