Who will you rip off today?
60Sifting through the bills...
Recently I received a phone bill from ATT, it had about 35 pages in it. I quickly noticed that the bill was about 160 dollars or so more than usual. After going through each page, flipping them over, front and back, scanning, scanning.... I finally see something odd. Would you believe that they charged me an early disconnect fee on a phone line that I have had for three years, and is still active?
After I called ATT, waited 30 minutes or so for them to finally realize their error, I wanted to scream. As a matter of fact, I do a lot of screaming these days into the telephone. I get on average, no kidding about seven toll free number calls to my home. I am on the DO NOT CALL list.. all of my phone lines are: home, kids, business (cell lines), etc. Yet, I get these annoying telemarketers who act like they know me, then start to try and sell me something. OR I get stupid recordings... This call is for "Lisa Roberts", if this is "Lisa Roberts" press one... if I press one just to get a rep on the phone to cuss at, they are going to think I am the woman they are looking for. So I hang up....
Wachovia Bank started calling me looking for a Roberto Gonzales.. Then it was attorney's offices calling me for someone else about another bill that was not mine. What was worse, was that I checked my credit... I suggest truecredit.com you can go on there and sign up for $14.95 a month monitoring that will alert you to any changes.. and.. low and behold, BMG Music Services has placed a collection on my file from 2003.
I immediately called them and they said.. Ooops.. Wrong Sharon Smith. The trouble is that just the fact that it was put on there ran my score from 670 to 588, and now.. how long will it take to go back up, even when they remove it??
Someone start me a bubble bath...
Is everyone so desperate that they just make things up, hoping you will just pay them and go? I had one ad agent put our company in a yellow pages phone book without my permission using some crappy logo that wasn't ours, publish it, then send us a bill!
WHAT THE HECK?? It seems like we have to keep our eyes and ears open every minute of every day, and mail??? My goodness... email, text messages, postal mail, junk.. junk... junk...
Look, if I want something, I will buy it. Period. I don't want your sale papers, and I don't want your soliciations every day to extend my car warranty. However, I do appreciate the mailing that came to me by Chrysler...
WARNING.. you car may hault while driving and crash...
THANKS BUD!! I only have had the car for more than a year. Wasn't it nice of them to notify me that I was driving a potential death trap because of a tire gauge wiring problem.
It seems we all have too much to sift through these days. My power bill was $479.00 this month. Last month it was $379.00. Did we wash more clothes? Take more showers? Cook more? Everything seems like a scam.
Then there is my lovely bank.. I pay most of my bills through online banking. I get my water bill today, and they THINK I have not paid them in two months. I go to the online banking, and whala, there are my paid checks... all in a row, no months missing. Is it this way with everyone?? Or is this just ME??
For example, we bought some tires, 55,000 mile tires at that. Well.. they only lasted less than 30,000 miles, and when I called about the tires that were showing wire, they said, oh, that is just an estimate.. Geez.. they were off.
But, on the lighter side, I just got a cheap iPhone, and I am enjoying reading ALL the directions that came with it.
Now... will I get another disconnect fee?? Oh Lord, let me call ATT again!!

It's not you. believe me...When we bought our house and wanted the power turned on, they(power company) hit us with....your meter on the house in which you now live wasn't set properly, meaning you now owe the power company for two years that we under charged you.(who's mistake was that? I don't read meters) I had to sign a contract and pay over $5,000.00 to have the power at our new house turned on. At the time I had about 15 years of paying my bills on time. I paid my monthly bill at our new house plus an added amount for their so-called mistake for more than 5 years, all along with the threat of having my power cut off where we lived if not paid on time. I wonder if we had lived out our lives in the old house, if they would have charged our estate, sucking up our children's inheritance. The real kicker was when: a number of years later, my husband had a casual conversation with a power company engineer and learned that there was no such thing as a meter being set to allow this to happen. We found out the hard way how corruption is where you least expect it, a scam is a scam, I wonder if they are still using that one. This happened in 1988, it's been going on for as long as I can remember.
Sorry, it was AT&T wasn't it? I get to ranting and my train of thought can run offtrack. I have one of those AT&T stories too, more than one, heck...you don't really want to get me srarted.
You mean to say that you actually get you instruction manual in English or are you clever and can read Chinese English.
Hmmm.. my instructions were in English, but they really didn't say a whole lot about my phone! At least I figured out how to use it!!

I guess I ticked off ATT by writing this Hub... this morning, the business line I was talking about above was accidentally cut off, AGAIN.. they said it was a technical failure. WOW.. only 25 mins to clear it today.
At least there is some comfort in knowing that I am not alone!!
Yes.. some banks are terrible! How long does it take to complete and investigation?? Your account was breached, maybe they should offer Valium to exiting customers???
