Are Whole House Water Filtration Systems Right For Me?
The Ralph Nader Research Institute stated that "U.S. drinking water contains more than 2,100 toxic chemicals that can cause cancer." OK, that filter system just got a big yes vote from me!!!!! Consider that your body and most of it's components are made mostly of water. And that water must be replenished regularly. Now if this were your only concern, you could just get a point of use system for the kitchen sink and be done with it.
What about that shower or bath that you take?
There are many uses for water in your home. Besides cleaning yourself, you will be cleaning your clothes, dishes, and cooking. Your hair and skin will be healthier, your clothes will look better and last longer and your food will taste better and be healthier!
What about your plumbing and major appliances?
Bad water could reduce the life expectancy and affect the efficiency of major appliances. It could even clog up your pipes.
What about maintenance and cost?
While whole house water filtration systems cost more up front, they require less maintenance, saving you time and money. You will probably have to have a plumber install the system, but you should be able to change the filter yourself. And the filters normally last from 3 to 5 years. The point of use units usually only last for a few months.
OK, so what is the bottom line?
Well when you are making your decision make sure that you factor in all of the variables mentioned. Look at the cost of the filters and the time that they will last. I think that you will agree that a whole house water filtration system is the way to go!
