Young love today…, is it really that different from what Mr. & Mrs. Parent remember, all those years ago? On the other hand, have we adults become more up tight about sex? Have adults simply forgotten “how-to-be” young, sexy and vibrant? Those are the questions I’d like to propose to adults, parents, and teenagers. Could it be this gap in time, and adults frequent lapse of remembering of how it felt to be young, that has now become the dividing line between us, and our youth of today? Could this be the main cause for the extreme separation between adults/parents, and the youth of today? As a mother of a teenager, I am inclining to think so. So I would like to ask our youth, where do we go from here, and how do we get to “there?”

Before responding to that question, an understanding that the world we live in today, is not like the world of yesterday’s needs to explained. For instance, when I was in high school, sure STD’s were a rampant part of social swapping pertaining to sexual intercourse. However, the worst thing that could happen in my day from having sex, was to get pregnant, grow a wart or two, and come up with painful blisters once a month. That’s it! Bad as it was- those were the worse possible outcomes for sexually active teenagers, in 1985. In keeping that in mind, teenagers need to give us old folks a break!

Nowadays people, the worse possible end result is DEATH via AIDS!!! And, if for one minute you ever think you or your partner is immune to dying from AIDS, Miss/Mr. Teenager YOU are sadly mistaken. Over 25 MILLION people worldwide have died of AIDS since it was first diagnosed. Over 2 million people died from AIDS in 2007, and nearly 2.8 million people were (newly) diagnosed with AIDS in 2008 alone. That’s up 1 million people more than 2007! Currently, over 35 million people worldwide is living and dying from AIDS. Therefore, if you think your immune, or it won’t happen to you, I’m afraid you’re dead wrong. Moreover though, is the fact that AIDS doesn’t keep itself contained to one generation over another. When it comes to sexual intercourse, ALL ages can contract AIDS at any given, unprotected sexual moment. However, could this single static be the only thing, us adults have in common with the youth of today? Again, I’m inclining to think so.

Something else that is radically different between adults and teenagers today; is the use of social networking sites such as, YouTube, My Space, Facebook, and the countless text messaging applications now developed for social interaction via the cell phone. How many (of you) parents out there, currently pay for a text messaging cell phone service for your child? How many of you adults honestly think that YOUR child isn’t abusing their computer or cell phone privileges? Wake up, smell the coffee. Do you not realize that YOU have now, single handily set youself up, and your teenager for some kind of “blow-up,” disappointment, or life alternating mistake? As parent, who do you honestly think is really to blame? The young teenager full of raging emotions and hormones YOUR too busy for and/or the teenager YOU have given in too? Could this be another possible reason for divisions between the youth of today, and single-minded adults of today?

I wrote this hub with the hopes of pissing people off to the point of recognizing their faults. It is time for my generation to quit making it soooooooooo easy for the youth of today to get pregnant, host a orgy, sell their virginity on Ebay, and so on and so forth. It is time us parents put down the holy bible, stop preaching in our children faces, and REMEMBER what it was to be a teenager; hot, horny, and needy. Thank you.

Oh wow, very nice pics there!!!! I think teenagers are hornier bcz of the excessive hormones in their bodies. This drives them crazy, while the adults have some control over it A BIT :)

Great point Shame!!! But at what point do we start addressing the issues brought on through social networking sites, and cellphone applications us parents are providing. I'm sure these pictures were taken via a camera of some sort.

I think it depends on the individual and it probably has a lot to do with your upbringing. Evidently, the subject matter was so nice that your ads disappeared. :-0

I was once a very horny teenager who was mature enough to lead a healthy life and recognize that I was in charge of my sexuality and not to follow the crowd. Teenagers need to know that sex is not going to end and life is precious. That goes for drugs and drinking and unhealthy habits.

Keep up the great subject matter, and continuous work. Adults are far more up tight, but maybe rightfully so.

Without reading the hub I will attempt to answer the question, Who is more uptight...adults of teens?

Teens will do anything to learn the art of love (both physical and mental). Which is kind of a game where anything is fair and it's a learn as you go process.

Adults are the same teens but with experience. Adults have already tested the waters. They are out to add a few new rules to the game. Hence they are more likely to be deviant.

Adults, usually in their late thirties or early forties are pigs looking to add to the rules of fair and innocent child behaviour.
