The Myth
One of our Top Hubbers and Community Manager, Maddie Ruud, offered these words of advice to Hubbers asking, "How To Make Money on HubPages". Maddie says:
"Traffic from within HubPages, for example, will not make you any money at all. "
and goes on to say:
"If you think about it, this is common sense--people who are already here on HubPages read your hubs in a mindset of community participation. They often leave very thoughtful comments, and might join your fan club, which feels great, but they are not going to click on any ads."
Ms. Ruud is right, but we can change that!
The Google Rules
Most of our ad earnings will come from Google AdSense.
We have all heard the horror stories about Google Ads accounts being closed due to "Encouraging Clicks" and/or committing "Invalid Clicks or Impressions". See the Google Adsense Program Rules.
Folks were clicking on their own ads and excessively clicking ads on their friends' sites, so Google needed to incorporate these rules to save some cash and remain credible to their advertisers.

Why can't our most "hit on" Hubs make money? That's up to us, the community, isn't it?

I always stumble and digg stuff I like, and the way i see it, is if your sharing the wealth, your making the community a better place. This will in turn get more users on to hubpages etc etc. It benefits everyone.

Well, mostly it may not make you money but again if someone is reading about a hub that they are interested in, they may very well do so. I mean, you would read those hubs that interest you, right? Just for the sake of participation you can't go on reading every hub, so there is a good chance of adsense working .
