Why Can’t We all Just Get Along?

I survived another day in Paradise,

My head hits the pillow, as I shut my eyes.

The Nightly News still ringing in my ears,

The tales of death, destruction, and my worst fears.

Makes me want to take off to another planet,

I seriously don’t know what’s wrong with some people, damn it!

Born to hate…or at least they'll find a way to get there,

Changing our world… till we don’t have prayer.

I’m an angry person…you can bet…with all this sh_t!

With all that’s wrong on this Earth…There still is good in it!

I like “good people"…it don’t matter…about their race,

We all got to get along…We’re all sharing the same space.

It’s a mighty big planet and "a small world afterall"...I think we all would still agree,

What we do now affects each other...however...especially each other’s economy.

Mankind has lived here for awhile now, and still has much to learn,

Of this message, I have a passion, one desire within my heart to burn.

Stop and wait one minute, before we start to kill off each other,

Who knows, the man that points his gun at you could be a distant brother.

Peace ain’t easy, we all have to work at it all the time,

But for now I will dream of it, it’s time to rest my mind.

In my dream world perhaps, for a few hours, no one will hurt or know pain,

Maybe I’ll journey half way to heaven, before waking up again.

I would like to dream of a solution, though I don’t know one at all,

I know Jesus could help with an answer; I will listen for the sake of the call.

Here I am, again with preaching, ready to say a few smart words,

But, I don’t know if anyone would listen or remember afterwards.

So now…I’ll press on…Please, hear these words that I’m about to say,

“Why Can’t We All Just Get Along With Each Other Anyway?”

No…It’s not original; In fact…It’s been said before,

Stop and heed the question…The answer is not “War”!

From long ago, until today, many have died as a result from hate,

A solution finally dawns on me…In fact…it’s pretty great!

Before the next appointed time to anger; And before it gets too late,

Let’s just hit the “Pause” button, and then just wait…and wait…and wait!
