Fact: You probably don't need a multivitamin!

Many people think that in order to stay healthy and strengthen immune system functions they need to be taking a lot of supplements and multivitamins. While a multivitamin or other health supplement may be good for your body, the very best thing you can to do promote a strong immune system is to get those needed nutrients and vitamins through the actual foods you eat.

Colors are Key

The truth is, plants are like nature’s pharmaceutical factory. They provide all the vitamins and minerals your body needs, but unlike man-made pharmaceuticals, they produce no negative side effects. The best way to make sure you’re getting all the nutrients you need is to look at the colors of the foods you’re eating. In Asian countries, chefs will add ingredients to their dishes for no other reason but to add color. Although they do it to make the food look beautiful, following this trend is a great way to ensure that you have a healthy balanced diet.

Foods like these are the best multivitamin on the market!

What do the colors do?

Although it's important to get orange and green from squash and leafy vegetables, today I'll focus on berries. Because of the variety and vibrance of color in berries, it is clear that they are some of the healthiest things you can eat. Let’s take a closer look at berries and the benefits of each type (and color). Perhaps the most powerful of all are blueberries. They are high in antioxidants and flavanoids, which are known to prevent prostate cancer, urinary tract infections, and cataracts. They also protect against brain damage from strokes and heart disease. Cranberries are best known for preventing urinary tract infections but they can also protect against breast cancer, stomach ulcers, and high cholesterol. Strawberries are high in antioxidants and vitamin C. They are known to prevent heart disease and provide overall good health. Raspberries are known to fight cancer thanks to their rich supply of phytochemicals and vitamins and minerals. Getting all the nutrients from these powerful berries (taken either fresh or in a supplement) will improve your general health and do wonders for your immune system!
