Bubbles, Michael Jackson's favorite chimp pal did not attend the Michael Jackson Memorial Service. Why didn't Bubbles attend the Michael Jackson Memorial Service? Well, one reason is that a chimp is an animal and not a human being.  Still the Associated Press thought it important to mention the chimps absense from the Michael Jackson Memorial Service.

No one really expected to see Bubbles do the Michael Jackson moonwalk in commemoration because the chimp lives 2,600 miles away from Los Angeles at the Center for Great Apes in Wauchula. Bubbles habitat is rich with Florida maples, native ferns and bananas trees. Bubbles has 4,000 feet of elevated tunnels in which to travel and swim the way chimps does.

Bubbles is treated somewhat as a human as people come around him to play soft music on a recorder that the chimp seems to enjoy. As the elephants have just started doing, Bubbles paints and watches television. As Bubbles is now 26 years old, the chimp sometimes give piggy back rides to the smaller chimps. For inquiring minds wanting to know, Bubbles favorite food is peanut butter at the end of a bamboo stick. Bubbles caretakers had no intention of taking Bubbles to the Michael Jackson Memorial Service because after all Bubbles is a chimp.

Michael Jackson introduced Bubbles to the world in March of 1986.   That was around the time that the press was on Michael Jackson to find anything strange or weird about the way he was living.  People have been spotted with stranger pets than a chimp but the press had to have something to write about Michael Jackson.  Now as Michael Jackson is being commemorated, people are seeing that having a chimp for a pet is not such a strange thing.

As Reverend Sharpton told Michael Jackson's children at the Michael Jackson Memorial at the Staples Center, there was nothing strange about their father only the strange things around him that he had to deal with noticeably the press and the media.

No Bubbles was not at the Michael Jackson Memorial Service and no one expected to see the 26 year old chimp that had outgrown its stay with Michael Jackson.  What was the chimp to say if it could speak would have been the lyrics in one of Michael Jackson's songs, " Just leave him alone."
