How To Save On Garbage Bags and Help The Environment

Have you ever wondered about why you throw a perfectly good garbage bag that may not be messy inside, into the dumpster every time instead of emptying it? The number of garbage bags that go into the landfill each year is mind boggling. About 400 garbage bags for every adult American get buried each year and will never decay.

It makes no sense if the contents of the garbage bag are not messy to just throw it away. Next time just empty the contents and replace it in the waste basket. If you are severly germ phobic you can spray it with a disinfectant spray.

One way to keep reusing kitchen garbage bags is to try and keep the bag clean by placing food scraps in a compost bin instead of in the trash and recycling food cans.

There are bags that are biodegrageable but they are sometimes hard to find.

If you are concerned that your trascan outside may get knocked over, scattering litter all over the neighborhood, you can place a bugee cord over the lid, secured by a zip tie so that it does not fall of into the garbage truck.
